Anyone else finding it impossible to modify a resort reservation right now on MDE?

I’m trying to switch a Coronado reservation to Port Orleans for the fall and although the option to change exists on MDE, it won’t go past that page no matter how many times I try. I spent over two hours waiting on the phone yesterday and of course the WDW website went glitchy and showed no rooms available for a couple of hours and that is when the person came on the phone and told me there are no rooms available. I tried to tell her several resorts were available literally 10 minutes before and she actually said in a straight tone “well I guess they are all booked up”. I don’t realize they use the same platform as the general public, or at least in part because clearly it was a glitch.
Anyhow, is any one else having success with changing their reservations?

I have no reason to modify so I don't know if it would work or not.
Disney is playing with the numbers right now so it does not surprise me at all that its saying its not available.
One time I look many resorts are unavailable and then I look a little while later and they have rooms and then a little while later and they don't.
The other thing I'm wondering is if you currently have something booked that includes a discount and since the discount doesn't transfer its saying you can't do it?

Thanks for the reply, no discount, no split stay, I guess the system is just that overloaded or something, I’m on another 2 hour marathon phone wait right now! Hopefully get some better results this time

Could you simply make the new reservation separately and then cancel the existing one? Or are you within a cancellation window that makes that a non-viable option?
Thanks for the reply, I’ve tried that but I’m going on a solo trip and I tried a new booking separately, but won’t let me make a new one I assume because I already have another one. I’m nervous to cancel my current one first in case there is some glitch and I won’t be able to book a new one. I waited almost three hours on hold on the phone yesterday and finally gave up...

MDE will let to modify your reservation for a different resort during the same selected travel dates for your original selected reservation. When you are changing the travel dates of your stay, its currently directing you to call a number if you have to change your travel dates. I would recommend calling the number it tells you instead of the regular WDW travel number, i got through with 25 minutes.

That is strange because I have multiple dates and multiple rooms booked at the same time, must be a glitch, I would reset computer and try again

Thanks for the reply! Doesn’t matter which computer I use at home, work, mobile, resetting cookies, clearing history, can’t get past the hotel selection section. Tried to book a totally new reservation with a different email, shortened name, different credit card and it won’t even let me do that.

Thanks for the reply! Any chance you know that number? I don’t want to mess with the dates in case I can’t change them back and lose the reservation all together or something. There are clearly some glitches that feels like I’m the only person dealing with right now... don’t have the time during my work days to be on hold for literally three hours....

Go into incognito mode and try it online. Sometimes it will glitch out if you do too many searches and have stuff in you cart. If you have a reservation in your cart, it should be yours. I had that issue a few years ago when I booking a room online and had it in my cart, I got all the way to putting in the CC number and it bugged out on me. I called and the cast member was rude about it and saying it was all booked up. I disagreed and said that if it is in my cart, it is mine for a certain amount of time, at least to get through the process of paying for it. Well I got no satisfaction from them so I emailed. A nice IT guy called me a few days later and told me that I was right, if it is in your cart, you should be able to book it.

What dates? Maybe we can see if it is available to us or if it really is sold out.

Thanks for the advice, no luck with incognito mode, but thanks for the suggestions. Will just have to find the time to wait on these crazy long phone wait times.

mbroschak, I had a military discount reservation for CS which does not allow an MDE modifiction. Thursday was the first day of booking for the PO resorts. I started at 7:00 a.m. and was given a "greater than 90 minute wait", then was promptly disconnected around 9:30. I redialed and was given a "greater than 120" minute wait, but was disconnected again in 2 hours! I redialed a 3rd time and did not get a person until just before 2:00 p.m. She was very courteous and able to make my transfer from CS to POR, but it took several more times for her to put me on hold. There was lots of traffic on their system I think.
