Heh, I was just coming here to ask the same question. I'm staying at Saratoga Springs and wanted to set up some dinner reservations for restaurants close to the resort, and this seemed like a good choice for the GF & I. If you haven't seen it yet, there's a recent menu over at http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_hob.htm How much "fun" is had, I guess, would vary from night to night depending on if they have headliners you can see before/after/during(?) dinner, or other local artists playing while you eat, and if so, how good they are. I peeked in once and the place certainly looks interesting. Though sometimes I think John Belushi must be rolling around in his grave the way Dan Aykroyd took their shared love of the blues and morphed it into such a bland "viable commericial product."

I've eaten there. It was about 4 years ago. My husband insisted we go, so I let him have his way (just this once, though:D ). It was OK. Nothing great. The atmosphere was kind of cool, though. The food wasn't bad, just not anything memorable.

We ate there 2 weeks ago for dinner when we were down there. In all honesty it wasn't that great, and they didn't even have bands playing until 11:00 pm either. I would suggest going to Bongos on a Fri or Sat nite. The food is good and they have a cuban brass band that plays latin music. Alot of local cuban/americans come out for this and it's fun to watch.

I ate there like a year or so ago and got some chicken finger things. Not bad. But you know, nothing amazing. They sat us down literally RIGHT NEXT to a live band though and it was miserable. We asked them to move us to the back room. It was just painfully, miserabely loud. The speakers were causing so much vibration that our silverware was rattling all over the place.

So....eh. It's alright but I found it a little expensive and not overly thrilling. Plus, you really have to avoid sitting too close to the band or you'll just get an instant headache.

In my opinion.. I wouldn't recommend Bongo's at all. The food we had there was extremely bland and overall not very tasty. The atmosphere is nice. I would much rather suggest dinner at the Wolfgang Puck Cafe (the sit-down service part). We had a wonderful dinner there and will definately return in the future

Thank you for the advice...nothing makes me UPSET more than bland ethnic food.... Being African American... we def. season our food:slurp: so I dont think BONGOS would be for me if the food is like that!!!!

Gotta echo what others have said about House of Blues. We ate there after seeing Cirque du Soleil and it was nothing special. I don't think we would take the time to go there again. I have eaten at Wolfgang Puck there and it was pretty good. I recall the Caesar salad being very garlic-filled though, so take some gum or make sure everyone in your party eats some.

I've eaten at House of Blues for dinner. Had a Chicken Ceasar Salad. I remember it being good, but I can honestly say there's nothing special about the place and I don't think I would be in a hurry to eat there again.

I would definately recommend Wolfgang Puck's Cafe though - it's great! I'll be there Saturday, July 16th for dinner before Cirque du Soleil. :slurp:

Same sentiments here. I at at HOB a year ago for lunch. Food on the quality of a Bennigans or Applebees. I had some sort of blackened chicken sandwich (which I thought the chicken was a bit over cooked). But I can highly recommend their Rosemary Cornbread - deeeelicious and almost good enough for dessert :)

It's ok, I'd go somewhere else thought. The atmosphere is good, but the food is average. I personally won't eat there, but will party there!

They have some good drinks, but that's about all I can rave about!

Personally, I'll be at Margaritaville!

I must be the only one who likes the HOB. :o

We ate there Christmas 2003 and I thought it was great, the seating area was a little tight but the food [for a country girl like myself] was great. Ditto on Bongos, our boss bought us dinner there one year during a conference and the food was just blah.

Have a great trip!!!

Obviously I'm a bit late with a reply, however I can't say much about the HOB food. My wife and I ate there this past winter, and there is absolutely NOTHING special about that place or the food. They actually meesed up our orders, and gave us two fish dinners (we ordered meat...HELLOOOO).

When we finally did get the correct meals (1 hour later) it was average food, and wasn't worth the 1 hour wait. However the outside bar was cool as heck.

I ate there about 5 years ago and basically agree with many other people here. The food was certainly fine, but nothing spectacular. It was, however, quite pricey.

Overall, I didn't like it because it was EXTREMELY LOUD!!! I don't really like paying a ton of money for something and then not be able to relax and have conversations with my friends because I can't even hear what they say...

I didn't care for it. The food seemed very saturated in grease. It was a very dark, dank restaurant as well. I felt like I was eating the flies I saw flying around the kitchen. Maybe it's changed, but I didn't think it was that good.
