Anybody Eaten at the New Restaraunt in Italy?

I ate at the "transitional" restaurant and everything tasted as though it was microwaved. I never really thought much of the original restaurant, so I think that I will always be hesitant to eat at the new one.

What's the new restaurant in Italy and what was the old one?

Never ate at the old Alfredo's but have eaten at Tutto Italia several times now & loved it! However, it is quite pricey - unless you are on the dining plan I might reconsider. Check out the menus - the penne caprese is fantastic but, as you can see, the cost is a bit ridiculous!

I ate there in early Aug and was very disappointed, I never had a chance to eat at Alfreddo's but expected something better then what I got for the price I paid. The food was very bland and the service was nothing special, if not for the fact that the place is beautiful inside I would have been very upset. I would not eat there again until the "next change".

I ate there just a week ago. I have to agree with the other posters....It is good but on the expensive side. The decor is very nice and our waiter was great. He was very attentive and even helped me a bit with my limited Italian. Even though there were kids there, it seemed to be a bit more adult sort of restaurant. I tried it once, but will not likely go back mostly because of the higher cost. Give me Aunt Liz's fried chicken at the 50's Prime Time any day!!

We ate at Tutto Italia on our trip in September. My partner enjoyed the Sacchetti, and my salmon was ok. Neither of us was really impressed, but I wouldn't say we were disappointed either.

One plus is we were seated in one of the rooms off to the side... which was very quiet compared to the main dining room.

Service was a little lacking... although the restaurant didn't seem full, it looked like they were seating people faster than the wait staff could keep up. We were first served by a bus boy, who although was kind, seemed to be new to the restaurant and with his heavy accent and broken English, was a little hard to understand.

After we placed our drink order, we had a waitress, who seemed frazzled. We weren't ignored, but she certainly was busy with several tables, and gave us more of a 'hit-and-run' kind of service.

We were on the Dining Plan (free) and weren't too concerned. If we had paid out of pocket (it is pricey) I think we would have felt a little more disappointed.

Food was great. I had a nice Tagliatelli and for dessert an amazing Zabione gelato. The only issue was the price. Not quite worth the price but a good meal.

I ate there last year and wasn't at all impressed, the service was awful as was the food. When we visited the world this past September we went since my father was with us and he's from Italy. The service & food was improved but nothing stellar in my opinion. It however would never be a top choice for me, and I'd never pay to go there. I'd only use the DDP.

Our waiter looked like Joaquin Phoenix though, so that was pretty cool.

I've eaten at both 'versions' of the restaurant. But, I have to say that I was not overly impressed with the food (although it was good) because I expected a lot more (in quality and quantity) based on the prices.

I would recommend going elsewhere for the prices charged there.

I ate there in August, didn't like it at all. I liked Alfreddo's better. The food was really cheap (quality), but expensive (price). I don't remember what I got, but I remember not being fond of it at all.

The best part was that at the cart outside on the main street, to buy tiramisu was only a couple dollars (maybe $2.50), while in the restaurant it was like $5-10. What's better is when we went to buy a piece at the cart outside, the guy went to the restaurant to get a piece and come back.

Anyway, wasn't there supposed to be a new restaurant coming in?

I thought Tutto Italia was just temporary.

My understanding is Tutto Italia IS the new restaraunt.

oh well, we've cancelled and are now going to san angel inn. That's tradition for us anyway now I guess. Have done at least one meal there each trip starting with our honeymoon.

ate ather in October - I thought the food was pretty good (reminded me of Bravo) certainly wasnt what it was when I ate there in 1998 - it was much more "authentic Italian" then - but I had lasnagne and the wife had a ravioli type dish and it was very good - price was high compared to bravo:-) sat outside on the patio and has a great time - the bottle of wine along with booze I drank from the food & wine fest might have helped!!
