Any Updates on Test Track Redo?

So Sad.. missed the last ride by just 5 days!

Glaring will be during the TT down time the lack of refurbishments on other rides. I would love to see average park attendance #'s for this TT downtime period vs the same period last year and maybe previous, non recession, years.

I should've known better! I was hoping TT would be open by September 28 at least for the EPCOT 30th celebration!:( My husband is going to be very upset about the Nov. 30th thing! I am sad. I will miss that ride. Yes- I know that it's stupid, but I an't help it!
only on these boards do people hope for a rushed-job producing an unfinished product. Realize, this is probably the only refurbishment we will see on Test Track for another 10+ years. I hope they take their time and give us a great show rather than rush to appease complaining guests, leaving us to enjoy an unfinished ride for the next decade (as has already happened elsewhere in recent refurbishments).

Im kinda hoping they remove the canopy roofing thing outside in the front, anyone know? It just clutters the area, is not very attractive and hides the front of the sleek round building itself.

Agree, watch TDO cut it short or something.

Sorry to ruffle feathers!

I was not wanting it to be done halfway. I am glad they're rehabbing TT. My husband is the one who is upset. I don't care how long it takes just as long as the job is done right!

Highly unlikely. As unattractive as it is, it provides necessary shade and shelter from the Florida weather. And I doubt that Disney/GM would pay just to put a different shelter up when this one is still perfectly functional. But you never know...

Still a little confused about the "SimCar" car that you would design and how it would be tracked to the car you're gonna ride in???

Will the ride vehicle drive at a different speed or handle differently than another ride vehicle that's behind you or in front?

I'm wondering if they'll give you cards, similar to Sum of All Thrills, and you then give your card to the CM when you go to board or swipe it yourself in your seat. If they added more on-board monitors, one for each seat, they could then display how your "car" did on each test.

Only on these boards do people take something obviously meant one way and twist it around to something else. She wasn't saying that she hopes they rush the job and you know it. She just wished it would have been open when they go. Not too unreasonable of a wish.

Don't worry about ruffling those feathers. Your post was easily understood for what it was. Whenever I go I wish the attractions that were down were not down too but it is life and I move on. I'd rather they get the attraction done well than to rush it open. You just wish the same thing, that the attraction would be open when you go. We understand.

I still think they are going to have a normal Chevy inspired ride inside the attraction and then the "sim car" thing will be separate and in the post show room. It might look something like the Cyber-Space Mountain.

Why give out a card when an RFID chip in your park admission media would work? By the time the attraction reopens, they will already be in place for guests on the Art of Animation Resort. Six months seems like enough time to start rolling out admission media with embedded chips.

To be fair, we complain about the length and timing of closures AND complaing about the half baked job once they're open again. We like to have it both ways - never closed but always new and fresh with all working components. ;)

This appears to be all in the hands of Chevy/GM. S/he who foots the bill gets what they want. Here's hoping Chevy/GM wants a fully featured product

^^ THIS. But can you imagine the absolute insanity when TT reopens if it doesn't live up to the hype?

you do not just have to hope. You are part owner in this refurb too. Remember, GM is still partly owned by the Government, which means we all own it. That means we should be able to go right in there and project manage this thing the right way.

Anyone ever notice the amount of gum that was on the right side of the track at seat belt check. Hopefully that'll be cleaned up. Lol.

Ewww. :hurl:

Kinds Island in Ohio had a tree beside the queue line for the white water rapids ride that people started putting gum on and they never cleaned it off. After a while it had so much gum on it that section of the tree looked like a Candyland game board. :hurl:

Ya it was bad! I went single rider yesterday for my final ride and obviously you sit on the right side and I happened to be extra observant just because it was my last ride, but YES there must have been hundreds of pieces of gum on the right side by seat belt check and I wondered how much worse it would have been if WDW actually sold gum in the parks! Lol
