Any Updates on Castle Deco. Removal?

Does anyone else notice how much taller the castle looks without the oversized golden figures?

As I've said before, although I loved the 50th anniversary decorations and thought that it looked fairly classy (but the mirror was too big), the Peter Pan statues destroyed the forced perspective.

The tops of the turrets have always been gold, that's not something they added as a part of the 50th decoration. Here's a shot from 2004.

I hadn't seen it in natural glory since about 86 and I was 8 then so I didn't pay much attention to the castle's detail LOL. Last May (2005) was my first trip since the 80s. I'm just happy it looks good for our October trip!!!

I'm glad the lighting is gone, as it made for terrible pictures, but I still prefer the gold characters and the apparently very hated mirror. I feel the same was about Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland, too. The decorations just add something special to the castles and create more visual interest. I'm sad to see them go...hard to believe because when I saw the drawing of what they were planning to do to Sleeping Beauty's Castle I was more than a little dismayed. I think they pulled off both nicely.

Where are they going? Tokyo Disney Seas for their 5th anniversary? or is it 15th?
Actually, they will become a permanent addition to the entrance of the forthcoming Toon Studios at Walt Disney Studios Paris.

They will be added to this hat:

Is it just me or can you see where the supports were on the tops of the spires? Looks like the paint doesnt match. FIX IT.

They haven't painted or patched the holes yet. The supports for the characters and mirror involved cutting some holes in the skin of the castle to attach them to the metal support frame underneath. Right now the holes are just covered with what looks like pieces of thick tarp.

The holes will be patched and the painting will start as soon as the mirror is off (if not sooner). While not the prettiest picture right now, I assume seeing a few patches close up are preferred over putting the entire castle under scaffolding.

Although I liked the decorations, it will be so nice to see the castle in its pristeen state.
That's the way I first saw it, and that's the way I like it best.
Thanks for the pics!

I think that someone mentioned on here a month ago that the time table for all the refurb on the outside won't be done until the end of november or early december. The removal of the trim, flying figures, and mirror are all running to that schedule, but I don't know if that was an official schedule or not.
The really time consuming part of the project was the painting and patching of the castle to a like new standard.
