Any update on Flamingo Crossings?

Nothing will happen with Flamingo Crossings until Disney can prove they can make a success out of Disney Springs. Downtown and the former Pleasure Island weren't exactly showcases of success that Disney could use to sell Flamingo to prospective tennants.

"Look! We can place one of your flagship stores (restaurants) right next to one of our overpriced generic souvenier shops or a shuttered night club!"

Imagine, though. A Hilton Garden Inn provides services similar to a Disney moderate. For cheaper than a Disney value. And it's "on site." Is Disney sure they want these built? I would be afraid (if I were them) of it leaching away from Disney's own bookings.

To keep kicking this dead horse, every indication I've seen is that these hotels would have been "outside the berm." Think of this as Crossroads, only with a Hampton Inn attached. Why fanbois got excited over it I'll never know.

Or think of it this way. TDO thought they could create a major shopping center that charged higher rents than the rest of the area with zero frontage along any major road. A tourist-centered strip mall in the one corner of the property 99.44% of tourists never drive by. It was the height of arrogance, assuming the Disney brand will always make money. Unfortunately, it seems to be a microcosm of how the entire resort is run lately.

This. Flamingo Crossings, Golden Oak and the Four Seasons were all Disney's pre-recession attempts at selling off the little-used corners of property to the highest bidder. The less that results from a scheme like that, the better.

Exactly, it still upsets me at the land that has been sold for a small profit. Walt Disney World has the blessing of size, and even though parcels of land are unusable for business ventures it is still beneficial to have that amount of jurisdiction. If anything they need to develop some land acquisitions.

Its definitely unfortunate they've been doing this, as one day they may want the land back, its alot cheaper to hold onto what they have now than to buy it back in the future. The Golden Oak/Four seasons project isn't nearly the same waste of space as this.

Celebration was a huge waste of prime land right along I-4

Just because its unused now doesn't mean it should be sold, especially prime land off of the main roads.

Selling land is unwise, even if they dont want it now, hopefully they will want it in the future..

Some rumbling going on. The road that dead ends ( Western Way) is going to continue on across Avalon and tie onto highway 27. Talks are underway to get things started up again.
I know Disney already has the land all the way to Avalon for this project. Not sure who would be building the Avalon to 27 leg.

This isn't Disney springs it's like it right?
No not the Springs it is planned to be an area with a few hotels and some retail stores and I believe a few fast food restaurants. It was started years ago then everything stopped when the economy tanked. But I have a friend that works for the county who just told me some paperwork landed on his desk to proceed.
