Any Overnight Work at WDW?

I was at work a few days ago thinking to myself as I unloaded a grocery truck at 5:00 am I began to wonder. Is there a rather large overnight crew that works at WDW at night - that either stock, unload trucks, etc. We all hear about the castmembers that work the daytime and closing shifts but rarely hear much about the overnight crew. I imagine they have to clean restrooms late into the night as well. I knew they had people working at night on Spaceship Earth when the wand came down and the rehab started.

I know there is a 3rd shift custodial crew that goes in and cleans the parks, cleans bathrooms(powerwash) during that night. I think the work they have done is usually contracted out, like removing the wand, tho i may be wrong about that...

I asked a CM at DAK one day about this...my question to her was that I did not see alot of maintenence worker..she said that their were more workers at night than day, and I can believe that...one day it was Halloween...the next day Christmas decorations were up!

Mostly cudstodial and maintenance. There have been a few times where I've gotten off my shift at 4am and walked into the Magic Kingdom and been the only person on Main St, looking down at the castle. Totally peaceful.

The maintenance, custodial, and horticulture crews come out as soon as they get the park all clear. They will work up until the last minute that they can usually before they open in the morning. There are of course other all night jobs at WDW...security, resort ops, resort cleaning and maintenance, and transportation can sometimes run late enough where it might as well be all night.

Alot of entertainment cast can be in overnight at times as well when new casts are training, especially for the parades. I can remember leaving after a fantasmic shift and the block party bash cast were coming in to rehearse. (this was pre opening.)

I had my wedding at Disney and we had the MK and Epcot photos at 6am. We had to be there by 530am. So we got to see all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on. Our photographer said they powerwash the entire park and do touch up painting and any maintence that needs to be done then. The security to get in that early is crazy. We actually had to have our room keys to show the guard even though we were in our wedding gear. Its really amazing what goes on at night. No music plays and all you hear is the hum of power washers and street cleaners. Its exactly quite peaceful.
