Any New Themeparks or New Lands to The Current Theme Parks

I have heard many rumors that Disney is thinking about one of two new theme parks; one being either a sports theme or a theme park dedicated to Roller Coasters. Also has anyone heard about whether or not they are going to build the beastly kingdom in AK, (its the one with the fantasy creatures) and also whether or not they are going to put in new countries in world showcase, since they have not got any new countries in that section since the late 80's. Maybe a South American country would be nice. :slurp:

I haven't heard anything about the beastly kingdom but it sounds fun they could definitely have some characters in there. I think a fantasia themed water park would be fun :)

In the latest Disney Magazine, Beastly Kingdom gets a mention. The reader ask why there's a dragon on the AK logo, Dave replies with the cencepts or AK included the land - Beatly Kingdom. I think its funny that this is mentioned.... is Beastly Kingdom on its way???

There's lots of recent info on this subject, so try a search. The reality is, though, that these ideas won't be developed for at earliest several years.

There have been rumors running around everywhere about a 5th gate, beastly kingdom, Australia you name it. I don’t believe we will ever see a 5th gate at WDW. I could see Disney building something it Texas long before another park would be built in Florida. As for Beastly Kingdom at AK I believe it was originally slated to go where Camp Minnie Mickey is now. There were some rumblings about a major announcement at AK after EE is completed but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I surmised that if there was a big announcement it would be about a new land at AK along the lines of Australia or Beastly Kingdom but until Lee or Corrus says it will happen it is all just blue sky.

I'd be really happy not seeing a 5th theme park at WDW for a LONG LONG LONG time. WDW is struggling to properly operate what it has now. If it can't fund Beastly Kingdom, a Wonders of Life replacement, a ride for the old 20K Lagoon site, etc.....then why do they need another park?

Plus the economics of Orlando cannot sustain another park. There are 7 major parks in Orlando. Plus all the water parks in the city and Busch Gardens not far down the road. People's vacations can only be so long. It's wiser for Disney to draw people to its current parks (and away from the competition) with great new attractions then to waste money on a 5th gate.

That was very well said, and I completely agree... All the things you mentioned plus more would have to be completed before a new park was to be on it's way.

I should note, that if Beastly Kingdom were to still be built to the opening date set after it was originally chopped off as an opening land, construction would have probably started this year.

Beastly Kingdom for a while was set to open 2008 for Animal Kingdom's 10th. I find it very unlikely but the Imagineers are working on something for after Everest. Last I heard, it sounded like Journey to the Center of the Earth was going to be brought to Animal Kingdom and would take up Beastly Kingdom's space.

I had heard a long time ago that they were going to be building a "Coney Island" type park with roller coasters and such. To be honest I wish they would so maybe they could stop trying to turn Epcot into a thrill park.

That'd be cool.

I wanna ride Journey to the Center of the Earth so bad, and i think it would fit in well with a Mythical Cretures theme.

Beastly Kingdom did sound sooo good though :(

But i'd be happy for Journey to be at AK.

JTTCOTE? At Animal Kingdom? As much as I wouldn't mind seeing that attraction come to Disney World, I wonder how that attraction fits the AK theme.... At least Everest is a real mountain in Asia, where EE is being built, even though the Yeti is a fictional animal. JTTCOTE does not really fit any of the themed areas for AK. Unless the attraction does get added to Camp Minnie-Mickey and the whole area is turned into a land based on mythical animals, just as Beastly Kingdom would have been.

Hmmm, i dunno.

If they replaced the whole Camp Mini Mickey area, with a JTTCOTE themed area and made it based around Fictional Animals (Like Beastly but based around JTTCOTE) i think it would work quite well.

Though there might be the slightest chance we will still see some form of Beastly Kingdom at AK, with the construction of everest I think any rumors about JTTCOTE can be put to rest. To have 2 very large mountains with ongoing "excavations" that climax with a large drop out the front of the mountain in the same park... it just doesn't seem very likely. It would be like building another hotel with malfunctioning elevators on the opposite side of the Studios.

IMO the only possible way we will see JTTCOTE at WDW is as an addition to MK or as part of a 5th gate. Neither of which would be happening in the near future, especially the part about a 5th gate.

i think TDS just uses the mountain as a basis for the whole "Capt. Nemo" themed area. In reality, why would you go inside a MOUNTAIN for Journey to the CENTER of the Earth? You could easily scale back the facade of that attraction by placing it inside a steel wharehouse style building and hiding that from the public (much like Indy Adventure), re-jigger the ride layout to avoid the drop at the end, and JttCofE could be done.

True of any big project, if we haven't heard 100% that its happening, it won't happen for a LONG time. It takes a long time for things to happen once they are announced. I really wouldn't say its impossible for a 5th gate, a new land, or any of those things though due to the really high traffic going into WDW this year. It'll be interesting to see what the next new project is. I believe there will always be something, even if it isn't huge, just so they can have coming soon signs around the parks. The signs work on me, when I'm there in May and see EE from a distance and signs saying "opening 2006" im gonna wanna be there in 2006. Signs saying "IASW getting new paint!" don't give the same feeling, though the rehabs are necessary.

Yeah, i dont think they would need to use a mountain.

I think it would be cool for the entrance of the ride to be something like a cave, and the queue line slowly slopes down into the earth till you get to your ride vehicles (Could include the Elevator down like the TDS version if it could be fitted into the theme of the ride).

I dont see why there would be any reason to avoid the drop at the end though, after all most rides like this have drops, and i'm sure the guests wouldnt think anything about Everest and Journey being simular, there two differnt ride types after all, as Joruney uses Test Track technolgy.

The extent of the IASW rehab was much larger than just "some new paint." And judging by crowd response, I assure you guests have taken notice. This is how all of the disney classics should be rehabbed, and that applies to hotels as well. Contemporary could seriously use one, as is being discussed in another thread. :)
