Any New Themeparks or New Lands to The Current Theme Parks

The extent of the IASW rehab was much larger than just "some new paint." And judging by crowd response, I assure you guests have taken notice. This is how all of the disney classics should be rehabbed, and that applies to hotels as well. Contemporary could seriously use one, as is being discussed in another thread. :)

That wasn't really the point though. A new ride will pull more people to a park than a reopening one. I did say that the rehabbing is necessary, they need to keep all of thier rides looking like they're brand new. I was just saying I think no matter how much money they put into rehabbing, they will continue to fund new projects.

To which I'd reply that I completely agree. lol

Sorry if I misunderstood what you were trying to say in your origional post.

Actually, a mountain is necessary for JTTCOTE. If you've read the book, you'll know that the whole story takes place in a volcano.

First of all, it would be quite a stretch the thematically fit in JTTCOTE to Animal Kingdom, the only other place JTTCOTE could fit in anywhere within the current WDW parks is if it replaces 20k in the Magic Kingdom (since basically every Disney ride ever created could fit in either at MK or MGM)

A Coaster based Disney Theme park would be a sin...

AK needs Beastlie Kingdomme

EPCOT needs new countries

MK needs to put something where 20k used to be

If there is going to be a 5th gate, I'd hope it would be an American DisneySea just to keep tourists away from the original....(I'm thinking the way a Disney executive would, if I were to put it in my own perspective i jsut really want DS is my backyard :D)

I'm just not fond of an attraction going to AK without it really fitting the theme. Not saying JTTCOTE will not or is not a good attraction, I just fail to see where it fits in AK. As I said, Everest is a real mountain in Asia and Asia is represented in AK. Even though the Yeti is fictional, Everest fits into the over all theme of AK. What country is JTTCOTE located in? For this ride to fit the theme, knock down Camp Minnie-Mickey, add a land based on fictional or mythical creatures and JTTCOTE fits right in and can be the certer piece of the land. The mountain can be the icon. There is not a need to have a drop.. What can be the finisher is you being shot out of the center of the earth through the side of the volcano.. Instead of dropping down, you can be propelled up...

If you're gonna make a land based on Mythical Creatures, it would be stupid to make the central icon/attraction of the land be JTTCOTE and not something more legendary like Dragons....

Ok, I see your point and I agree. What would you propse as the icon for the land based on mythical creatures and what kind of ride would you think should be the big ticket attraction for the new land?

The Yeti could be a step in the direction of filling a beast- ly void. Instead of having land devoted to mythical creatures why not just sprinkle them throughout the park (only where they would fit in of course, I don't care to see a Chupacabra or a Gryphon roaming through Harambe). Some creatures would be better than none at all.

Ok, but where would JTTCOTE fit in really? EE fits in fine with Asia.. But JTTCOTE does not really have a theme to fit one of the lands currently in AK.

JTTCOTE simply does not work, and will not work in AK. EE works because the main draw is the yeti, and the yeti is a mythical creature... therefore, it fits into the parks origional theme: animals (whether it be real living creatures, extinct ones, or even the imaginary.)

JTTCOTE would have been a perfect addition to the MK right next to 20k.... a whole Jules Verne (sp?) mini-land if you will. -However- as you know 20k is now gone, along with the likelyhood that we will see a JTTCOTE attraction at WDW anytime in the near future.

I would much rather see a all new attraction that uses the same sort of ride technology as JTTCOTE and Test Track then a direct copy of DisneySea's star attraction. It could even just be a retheming of JTTCOTE with Dragon's as the main theme, and then it could be the centre piece of Beastly Kingdom. Or even Fire Mountain would work well.

First of all I would like to see all of Mysterious Island come to DAK, not just JTTCOTE.
IMHO DAK is about animals. Not Countries. What Country would BK fit into?
England perhaps?
Journey is about mythical creatures. A Lava monster being the main attraction. Just like the Yeti is for EE.
If you were to add TDS's 20K to the mix and you add sea creatures as well. Real & mythical.
On top of it all. DAK is also about conservation. Let's face it Nemo was a huge environmentalist (if not a little extreme about it).
Bottom line is I really want Mysterious Island. And with all the great vegitation in the park think about how cool a giant smoking volcano would look spitting out flame in the middle of a jungle setting, surrounded by water.

I had heard a long time ago that they were going to be building a "Coney Island" type park with roller coasters and such.

Wont happen, Disney's objective is not to buld a park around a specific type of attraction, but a specific story or theme. Building a park around coasters, similar to Six Flags or Cedar Fair leds to a uninspired atmosphere. As much as I love the coasters at Six Flags, I don't like the parks. Same with Cedar Fair, they may have great coasters, but their parks lack emersive storylines and are overall boring. Why would you want a park that people only visit for the coasters and not the park.

Also, by building a park only with thrill rides you reduce thrillseeker demographic at the other parks. Disney's formula is to have "something for everyone" (as speck puts it) at all of their parks instead of just devoting a park to one demographic.

To further expand on the point, if you build park that only consumes one demo not only do you reduce the likelyhood they will visit the other parks, but also the length of the guests stay. What disney also tries to do is get you to visit every park and stay longer. If you have one park that is all thrillrides, most thrillseeker will only visit that one park and only need one day to do it. By putting thrill rides in every park evenly with other types of rides, you force guest to visit every park spend admission on each park, more evenly distributed, and most important they must stay longer in order to visit every park. By meeting the those three key objectives, Disney makes mucho el dollaros

I just visited WDW in January and our bus driver was taking us from Pop Century (awesome hotel btw!!) to AK and he told us about EE and said that within 10 years there will be two new parks and so many new hotels (he gave a number but I forget). I have no idea what they could be though w/o "copying" off other parks in Orlando.

IMO, a coaster theme park would not interest me. I love all the rides at Disney because they have themes. Unless the Coaster Kingdom had a different theme or story for each coaster (which would be really hard to do) I woudln't be interest Plus it would be just too many coasters in one place... I get motion sick but I'll get on a "big" ride then do the "smaller" ones while my stomach settles enough so I can do another "big" one. I would be interested in a Disney Seas, since whenever I go to FL I only go to Disney and have never been to Sea World or Universal Studios for that matter...

Another question of mine... when did 20k close? Because I remember going to WDW in 94 and it was closed (maybe for a diff reason) and it has never been open any trip I've been on. What exactly was the ride and why did they close it?

Now this idea I can live with for JTTCOTE. But the attraction as it currently stand in TDS just doesn't fit the theme of AK in my opinion.

Hi Jamie.
First off welcome to the boards!

20K was one my all time favorite Disney Attractions. It was based on 20000 Leagues Under the Sea (The Disney movie, based on Jules Verne's novel).

Here are some great sites about the attraction:

http://www.vulcaniasubmarine.com/WALT DISNEY WORLD FLORIDA.htm

http://www.20kride.com/

As for DisneySeas it much much more than SeaWorld. Or Universal.
It is probably tied with Disneyland Paris as one of the greatest Disney Themeparks in the world!
Check it out here:

Also just as a friendly reminder, once you are around here a little longer you will learn the old saying.
"Never listen to the Bus Driver"
