My wife and I never got a chance to have a drink there at MGM. Does anyone have any pics of the interior of this past bar?

That is a great question! I saw it from the floor years ago when they still had the restaurant where D:LoS is now, but don't really remember much about it. I don't really even remember where the door is.

I know there were two entrances, I'm not sure where the main one was, but the one that is still there is the stairway that is roped off in the Brown Derby lobby.

It's now part of the backstage area for Playhouse Disney. When I worked in that area the day after hurricane Charley hit I had the opportunity to tour backstage, including the catwalk. The bar was pretty much intact, and looked like it wouldn't take too much work to reopen it. In fact, I think some of the chairs were still there.:D

Sadly I have no pictures.

I never got a chance to visit it (it closed before I was 21). The main entrance was through a side door of the Brown Derby building. It's between the awning at the main entrance and the studio archway, set back a little from the sidewalk. That had the sign overhead for the Catwalk Bar.

An article I just found suggests that there may have been access from the Soundstage Restaurant, too. (Back when "Stage 5" was still a restaurant)

EDIT: Looking at birds-eye photos on Bing Maps, it looks like there may have been access to the same lobby from both sides of the Animation Courtyard wall, both immediately next to what is now Playhouse Disney, as well as adjacent to the Brown Derby entrance.

The only entrance I knew of was thru the Soundstage restaurant as shown below. The drawing is my best recollection. The red dot on the landing was the rose in glass from BatB, IIRC.:)

The Catwalk was a nice break. You could sit and sip your favorite, while watching the character meal below.:slurp:

This was the only entrance I ever knew of:

It had a small, unobtrusive sign that fit right in with the rest of the design for the Brown Derby.
And if you rotate the view in Bing Maps, you can see that there might be a door into the same corner of the building from inside the courtyard, just on the other side of the wall.

So yesterday I was at DHS and decided to see what all the hullaballo was about.

Going through that side door, I was greeted with a roped off elevator to the second story.

And next to it was a staircase going up, also roped off.

I didn't venture up there because it was crowded yesterday, but...

:)

Pretty much this, a male and female bathroom, and a entrance to the catwalks of the show area is all that is up there

But it does provide a great view out the window

I was also curious on what it looked like when it was in operation.

I remember reading the Bar did not shut down when the resturant did and was in operation during the first year of bear in the big blue house.. that is between show times. Obvously it shut down when they added more shows and eventually changed it to playhouse disney live.
