any idea for theme of 2nd hong kong park?

After following this park for awhile now I think they will have to concentrate on building up the first park. As beautiful as the location may be there is not alot to do. There seems to be some room for expansion for HKDisneyland. I'm guessing that they will concentrate on getting the main park up to speed.
As far as a second park first they will have to fill in some more of the Bay. If you look at the maps Phase two is all water right now, so unless they are going for an Atlanits theme I don't see it happening any time soon.
The plan for this park is different than Disneyland Paris where the agreement signed with the Government states that they have to build a soecific number of parks ib a specific time frame. I believe the next one must be built by 2017. That is if there still is a DLPR in 2017 (I kid, I love that park :D ).
I believe that we will see a second park in another Chinese City and a 3rd park in Japan before we see a second park in Hong Kong.

I have heard rumors of them adding an Epcot type park in the future expansion projects in Hong Kong. On a much smaller scale and with different types of attractions. It wouldn't be called Epcot though... I forgot the name that I heard for it.

How about a park full of attractions missing from the 1st? Splash, BTM, POTC, IASW..... I thought this was DISNEY!!! ....in name and a couple of million $$$ only I guess...

I'd say in 20 years :D. I doubt we will be seeing anything new in terms of development. Knowing Disney, they'll milk the Magic Kingdom until it has recieved everything current and considered a staple ttraction before moving on. I doubt it will be before the 10th Anniversary. - The WeirdOne :D

WeirdOne,
Off topic but still with an eye on Asia & new parks, what's up with a 3rd park for Japan?
Is there enough room on the site for a 3rd park?
Would they have to do a DCA and build on the parking lot?
If I would have to guess, a new revised version of Westcot would be pretty cool for TDLR. Not as favorable as a new concept but better than another Disney Studios.

I don't know if TDLR has room for more expansion, but I remember reading stories that the Oriental Land Company was thinking of buying another park down south of Tokyo that was going under. I had posted that and someone replied that OLC changed thier minds or something happened that the deal didn't go through.

Ya, that was me.
It was a Dutch owned park. I'll see if I can find the name of it. Really beautiful looking place.
But since that fell apart, I'm wondering what they could do (if anything) if they wanted to expand.

Thanks jriddle for jogging my memory. As far as a second park at HKDL, considering the location, a park with fantasy creatures would be nice. Perhaps even the Beastly Kingdom idea that was floated around. Where else but in China would you find dragons?

If I recall Beastly Kingdom was to have a good side and an evil side ruled by a Dragon (Evil) and a Unicorn (good).
With this idea Mushu (Mulan) could be the mascot for the Good side and Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) would represent the evil side.
I really like this idea...lots of potential.

Well, the third park idea has been shelved currently according to the latest news out of WDAJ (Walt Disney Attractions Japan). I do NOT believe there is any more room on the current site, but I can be proved wrong. They could possibly (this is all speculation on my part here) fill in some more of the bay like Hong Kong Disneyland, but somehow I doubt the Tokyo Government would allow that. They do not have a substantial sized parking lot, so no park there.

As for the park, the Disney Studios was the pre-DisneySea concept, until they were sortof pushed to make DisneySea a reality. As for the third park, anything is up in the air. I would think that a new park concept would be more likely based off of their current DisneySea success. I do however strongly believe that the 3rd Park will NOT be on the same site. I do believe if they move forward, it will be on a different site. But, as of now, third park plans have been shelved, mainly because DisneySea is expanding and so is Tokyo Disneyland, so they do not want conflicting attendance numbers between 3 parks. - The WeirdOne :D

Thanks for the info WeirdOne!:D
Besides ToT, the Port Adventure Roller Coaster and Buzz in DL.
Are there any other types of expansion planned?
I love the OLC, they "get" Disney.

Yes, I'm always amused by how another culture will take an American icon and make it more American than the Americans. For instance, OLC and their approach to Disney. I think Walt would cry if he realized how far the parks and Disney have strayed from his vision.

There's plenty of entertainment expansion coming. "DisneySea Symphony" is being replaced by "BraviSEAmo!" "Mickey's Adventureland Mardi Gras" is leaving for "Minnie! Oh Minnie!*". "Once Upon A Mouse" is leaving for "One Man's Dream II: The Magic Lives On*". There are many changes coming. Others will be announced as they come, but some rumored things on Japanese fans boards include a Fantasyland and Tomorrowland re-do project. But, nothing is official until it is announced. - The WeirdOne :D
