Any future for treasure/discovery island

I was recently surfing the net through some random disney pages and learned of treasure/discovery island. I cant remember for the life of me if I had been there as a kid or not. I asked my parents and they were not sure either. Anyway my gf and I really enjoy going to zoos. We travel a lot and make it a point to visit our destinations local zoo or aquarium if time allows. Anyway Ive been to about 30 zoos all over and I just enjoy them. And from further research I found that discovery island was actually accredited by the association of zoos and aquariums (AZA). I realize the park sort of lost its significance once animal kingdom opened. But I like a lot of folks really miss these rides/attractions that are no longer around. Mr toads wild ride, river country, 20k leagues, food rocks, world of motion, and of course horizons which practically has a cult following. Its sort of a humans nature to love what you cant have I suppose. But nevertheless I had never heard of this place, it seems kind of mysterious and I wanted to learn more about it. Im really curious if the island is in fact still there, and what do they plan to do with it, or is something new already in the works? I have found very limited pictures and a couple brief videos on youtube, I was wondering if anyone else had anything they wouldnt mind sharing.

river country literally is rotting, I seen some pictures recently. Scary.
I am originally from NJ like yourself, you might have heard of the magazine "Weird NJ" which if you dont know is just basically mysterious/scary findings in random cities around the state. Anyway River Country would be a good cover story if it were appropriately located.

If you know where these pics are can you share them please?
Just google them or do a thread search here; both have been covered in closeup detail.

Anyhow, move along - there is nothing to see behind that wall or in those trees, as TDO would like you to believe.

I read a few years ago that there was plan to make it some kind of Pirates Island, that would be part of a treasure hunt...I also read that there was some idea to make it available for special events only, in fact that may still happen.

Here is my idea...
Put a nice boat dock there, where people who rent boats, or canoes or watever can land there, and have a little restaurant/snackbar there, maybe a small nature walk with some birds or an alligator pit. Just something to make it unique but keep it mostly natural. You could have one worker making sure nobody jumps in the gator pit and few maning the snackbar, and the hours would be limited, something like 11 to 4 maybe.
