Does anyone know anything about the price per point for this resort? Also when will it officially open, as well as what it's fees are per point for it's first year?
Thanks ahead of time.

Are you already a DVC member? If so, I checked out the points last night on dvcmember.com. I don't know how to paste them here. Maybe someone else can.

Not yet. We were there in early Feb. and did the tour. We were thinking hard and serious about joining, but were waiting to have the option between AKL or SSR as home resort. I will call our rep/salesman this week to find out more. Thanks. By the way, what is your home resort and how has your experience been so far?

We are extremely happy with our DVC. We own at Boardwalk and at Wilderness Lodge. You will find many different opinions on these boards. The controversy is whether it is a good financial decision.

The honest truth is the $$ really doesn't matter. If you feel that it is of value to you and your family, the it is worth it.

If you buy in, I hope you are as happy with your purchase as we are.

AKV Info

Hi SillyKid. I am very close to making this decision myself, so here goes the info I have so far. I am assuming you are not already a DVC member.

AKV "Rack" rate is $104 per point with a 160 point minimum; however, you can get an incentive of $8 per point off, for a total of $96 per point. If you pay the full $104@ instead, you will get an additional 160 points that must be used in the next six months(no banking of these).

Portions of the resort in Jambo House will open in EARLY July, like the second or fifth. After that, additional spaces will be opening in a staggered format until 2009. Because the inventory is not yet available, you can't make reservations at any of the DVC properties until after that time in July 2007, unless you get the "bonus" 160 pts.

Fees for the first year are $4.62 per point.

Thanks for all the info. I called yesterday and got the exact info you just typed out. I'm sure others will be happy to read this info. Just to add they still have SSR for the same price, except the discount is $10 vs. $8. Hope you all have an amazing day.
Thanks again

We attended the DVC presentation at Saratoga Springs last month, and upon our return home (and lots of number crunching), decided to become members. I just have one question. For some reason, my wife and I thought that the $8 or $10 incentive was only valid for 72 hours from the time of the presentation. Does anyone know whether or not this is true?

I believe the $8-$10 discounts are a limited time offer but I don't think it's connected to the time of your presentation. You can contact your guide to find out for sure.

Sorry so long for the reply. I was at a meeting w/ my rep on 2.12.07. When I called him last week, 2 months later almost, he was happy to hear from me and was sending the info of AKLV via snail mail as he called it. He did say that the offer on the discount is available and I am sure if you called they do not want to loose your dollars. My rep said it took him two years to finally decide to join. I also know my rep told me no pressure 20 times during our presentation and said he would call me in a week. The only urgency he showed was that the min. was 150 pnts now 160 pnts as of 3.1.07, plus the points would cost $2 more each as of that date. Good luck and let me know how it goes. I am looking to join next March when I will be able to join without finance. I am not sure I will need the entire 160 pnts and may buy from the outside, around 120 pnts. I like that AKLV are a part of a building (hotel) and have more bathrooms per room in the new addition. I only am letting you know this because this is the way forward my rep said. Not all guest want to have to walk blocks outside to get to a restaurant or pool, like SSR. That is why we will see the Contemporary next. I was told dues will be even higher the AKLV, due to 30 new animals we will pay to upkeep, because of monorail station staffing and station upkeep. I do not know if that means it will have a seperate stop on the monorail, but that is what I was told.

On the whole akl discussion. Does anyone know if you are already members if you can buy into akl for less than the 160 points? I know you can add on in 25 or 50 point increments depending on financing, but in all of the akl promotional material, it stated that you have to buy in to the 160 even though we are already members. I didn't know if that is just for people who aren't members already or us too. It would be nice to have some extra points. It is hard with a big family because you need so many points.
