We were getting our pins ready for our next trip (11 days!!!!!) and my son found his "year of a million dreams" lanyard and pins. that got me wondering if Disney World would ever do a similar promotion again? What do my brilliant friends think??

Prolly there best promotion i can remember, most of it cost them nothing, they gave a way fast passes and fireworks seats and things like that...i wish they would do random acts of magic like they used to

I believed then, and still do, that the YOAMD lanyards were Disney's way of trying to figure out how they could set up a FP system similar to Uni's...which is what this NextGen FP thing is a response to.

I don't see them doing it again. It sure was popular, though! I personally know of five trips made with the hope of winning a night in the castle.

As part of the promotion, I kept sending in the postcards and got many lanyards and pins and YOAMD mickey hats, then when we went to Disney for 2 weeks, I'm hoping to get picked for something good. We are standing in the room at Dinosaur where the opening film is shown. All of a sudden all of us in the room are surprised by a YOAMD CM announcing that we had won.... You got it.... a lanyard & pin set ... of which I had a half dozen at home.

Yeah.. I'd still like to see Disney do another promotion similar to it. There are plenty of people on various Disney sites that didn't like it. Even though I didn't win a nights stay in the castle suite, it was fun to have the excitement that at some unknown point someone would be chosen and win something. Many guests won something... others nothing, it was totally random so everyone had the same chance to win.

It would be easy to do at DHS, since DHS is the trailer park of WDW...they keep their decorations up all year long...

My only complaint about that promotion is they cut the dream FPs off three people ahead of me while in line for Primeval Whirl. :(

They definitely should do something similar to it! It was cool getting those special Mickey ears put in my Dad's scooter basket!:)

Please no, I still have nightmares from the last 2 Years of a Million Dreams.

I hope they don't ever do this again. It got a little annoying watching the groups hovering near the CMs that were obviously in a location to give something away. It was almost like you could hear them thinking "Pick us! We're cute!" and they would glare at any other group that happened by them. LOL It was sad. Disney already made it a point to ignore those groups doing this, but they never got it.

That being said, I would like to see another great promotion that had that kind of excitement behind it.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I'm another one in the "loved it" camp.
It was so random. You didn't have to be an AP, DVC owner or guest at a Deluxe resort to benefit. We were all on a level playing field.
Our family received a set of fastpasses and lanyard while getting off EE. We were so excited.
Such an inexpensive promotion for Disney to run, while creating great anticipation on the part of the average park guest.

See, now those were the ones that made us smile. Totally unexpected. :) We saw several people getting these without seeing it coming.

something like this happened to us there. You just know that the CM working the fast pass return had to know that they were up there giving those away and he sent us into the wrong line. By the time we made it up there they were finished. I was so upset!

But other than that, we loved that promotion!! It was so much fun just thinking about a possible magical moment while in the park. We had a couple of them but nothing big but it was still very nice and I would love to see something like that again.
