Another unfair question

In your whole life, what year was your all-time, stand-out favorite Disney vacation and why? I warned you that it was an unfair question!

I'll start.....

I have 5 trips to pick from, spanning from 1972 to 2007. Although this year's trip was fabulous, I think my all-time fav was in 1996 when my children were 7 and 5......there is something about chasing after the characters that is unrepeatable...the magic, the wonder!

This year's trip runs a very close second and I'm thinking that as time marches on, will become even more special!

Who's next?

Mine would be my trip in 1995 when I was 13 years old.
It is my favorite because it was my first trip ever and my parents had saved for over three years to take me. Ever since I was born I was in love with everything Disney and had begged them to take me my entire childhood. Unfortunately they couldn't because of money restrictions until I was in junior high school, but it was the best trip ever because it was the first time I saw everything I had been dreaming about for years. And it was great to experience it with my family who had never been on a family vacation of this nature before.

I'd have to say our April 2006 trip, which was the first time we took our kids to WDW. Before the kids came along, everytime I stepped onto Main Street I dreamed about the day that we would bring our children. Finally being able to live that dream was amazing. It was a perfect week....so many magical memories. We always had a blast at WDW before kids, but nothing can compare to the magic we experience now when we take our kids.....and their first trip will always hold a special place in my heart.

I would have to say July of 2001. We accompanied my BIL& SIL and their three kids...the adults had not been since they were kids and their kids had never been. It was so much fun to see the adults take in all that had changed and the kids experience the Magic for the first time. We had a large group of 9 (4 adults and 5 kids) and it wasn't always easy keeping track of everyone, but we made some really great family memories and those photos are some of my favorites.

Geez, that's hard. I would have to say September '06. That was our first trip with our kids. :sohappy: Also we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, got upgraded (for free and without asking), to a Bay Lake-front room (courtyard view, had paid for standard), which got the trip off to a wonderful start. But what makes it "the best" trip ever is sharing it with our children, and seeing the looks of wonder on their faces all week long. :)

My trip in May 2005. It was my first trip that I had totally planned myself. I went with my boyfriend, who then proposed to me on that trip at Chef Mickey's. :D

March 1996. It was my first visit and it was back when Epcot still had Horizons, the original Journey Into Imagination, Food Rocks!, Ice Station Cool, Alec Tronic in Innoventions, and of course Spaceship Earth. I had never seen a place like Epcot and was absolutely blown away by it. It spoke to me, even more than Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom (which I didn't think was possible!). I spent a good portion of my trip at Epcot, trying to take everything in. Since then, visits to Epcot just haven't been as good. The loss of most of those attractions for lesser rides has reduced my opinion of the Park and taken away much of my sense of wonder.
However, a close second is last week's trip, which included a Keys to the Kingdom Tour, an Undiscovered Future World Tour, a chance to spend some time with our friend Martin, and all the rededication stuff on October 1st (it gave me some hope for Epcot). Then there was my now-favorite water slide - Crush n' Gusher. I've never laughed so hard.

Very easy question for me. It would be the first time I took my kids.

My son was almost 5 at the time. He was a big fan of Winnie the Pooh. The whole reason we went when we did was because he was convinced that he needed to meet Pooh. He had written him letters, drawn him pictures, planned what he wanted to say to Pooh when they finally met, etc.

Because of his love for Pooh, our first day we had booked breakfast at the Crystal Palace (8:05 AM). We told him that we were going to meet Pooh. When we got there we were greeted at our table by Tigger... which he liked, but it wasn't Pooh.

My wife spotted Pooh near the buffet line. There was a group of parents & kids waiting for pictures with him. I took my son by the hand and walked him to the line. My wife stayed at the table with my daughter (who was 2 1/2) and seemed a bit afraid of the characters. The look on my son's face when he spotted Pooh for the first time was something I will never forget. While clutching my hand he began jumping up and down. He looked at me and exclaimed, "It's really him! He is really real! I thought it was just going to be a guy in a mask... it is really Pooh!" I knew at that moment that whatever money we paid for the trip was worth it... even if we got to do nothing else while we were there. The family picture we had taken with Pooh that morning is on the cover of our photo album we used for our pictures from that trip. The smile on his face makes me smile/cry every time I see it.

Thinking about it, that might not only be my favorite trip to Disney... it was one of my favorite memories as a parent. We now start every trip with an 8:05 PS at the Crystal Palace. It may never be as magical as it was the first time we went, but it is a tradition we will continue every time we are lucky enough to return.

I am going to say my most recent trip was the best trip and 10/1 at Epcot really put it a notch above all the rest. For those that were not there it is really hard to explain but there was what I can only describe as an "energy" about Epcot that day. I don't know if it was a recaptured piece of my youth with the classic music playing in the parks, the comradship I felt being there with so many other friends and fans or the slight feeling that somehow I played a very small part in making that day at Epcot more than just another day on the calender. Regardless of what it was that day will always stick in my mind as one of the best days I have ever spent at WDW.

I still think I would have to say my very first trip in 1973! Spring break my 2nd year teaching Still only Magic Kingdom, but oh, so magical wen you see it the first time. The characters just walked around the park, everything was still bright and shiny new. The park was open till 2AM with the twinkling lights in all the trees making it just beautiful by the castle. I remember we sat In an outside dining area on Mainstreet I think for a long time after we had used up all our E tickets just talking about how much fun we had had.

2nd best trips were when I took my sons for the first time. <g> 3rd best trips will be the look on my grankids faces when they see it all for the first time......if I ever get a grandkid! <g>

Too easy :) and someone said the same year above

Disneyland - November of '05.

50th anniversary - xmas time, after the "remember" fireworks main street had the artificial snow "raining down" with the xmas tree in the background (to bad my camera stinks but I may have some pictures)... Just gave me chills and a tear, was by far the one single best Disney magical moment ever.

I have been going every year since I was 2 I believe but this year in March was the best one ever.

My daughter was 19 months old and had just started walking and was so into everything and it was just amazing!

It was just Maggie,Mommy and Daddy and we did what we wanted to do with no rushing or problems.

We did everything we wanted plus a few surprises thrown in and had the most amazing time..:)

Best Vacation EVER!

Although the memories of both of my kids first visits have always been special (all of them have been) Our last trip last month I guess takes the cake because it was our 15th anniversary and we had such a wonderful time. So much "Pixie Dust" was thrown our way from free champagne to special desserts and even being pulled out of the audience and sang to at Beauty & the Beast! We even won Dream Fastpasses.
Watching my kids grow older and still showing a love for Disney gets me all emotional too and there is nothing in the world like having your "too cool" preteen reach over and hold your hand at a show because you are crying thinking back about the first time you took them to see it.

While all of my vacations have been enjoyable and nothing can match the feeling of carrying your own children to WDW for the first time, my favorite trip would have to be the trip I took when I was 13. My grandfather had taken my parents, my brother and me three times previously, only two of which I remember. This trip in '97 however would be his last. He was in failing health, and in overall poor condition. I can remember, even at 13, seeing how his life changed for that week we were there. He rode everything, ate everything, smiled, laughed and loved. Seeing how Disney changed that week towards the end of his life, how it made him forget all his health issues, made him act like a kid again at 80 years of age, is why I love Disney. I thank my grandfather everynight during my prayers for showing me a place where I can forget everything. For showing me a place to carry my kids to further our relationships and bonds. During December '03(during the week of his birthday) we took a memorial trip, it comes in as a close second. I'm not a thrill guy, but I rode his favorite ride(spacemountain), in his honor, and I do it everytime I go back. Disney to me is about making memories not just fun, and my grandfather instilled(sp?) that principle in me.

My best trip WILL be May 2009. First trip with my kids, DD will be 3 and our new son or daughter (due March 2008) will be just over 1. I really can't wait for that trip. Staying at the new AKL DVC (hopefully a savannah view)!!

Until then, our best trip was a long weekend for Food & Wine fair November 2004. POFQ, agreeble November weather and wine and food as far as the eye could see. Fabulous fabulous fabulous. Even trumped our 2 week WDW Honeymoon in September 2003. And that is hard to top!

No problem answering this one. Without a doubt it was my daughter's first Disney trip, when she was 4, to Disneyland at Thanksgiving in 2004. The look on her face when she first walked into the MK was priceless. I can't even describe how over the moon she was. And that same look came across her face every time we turned a corner and saw something or someone new. Her start in life wasn't great, and as a result she is often a more anxious child and at that time was very withdrawn - so to see her that happy was simply a miracle. My heart still sings every time I think of it. That trip was 4 days of horrific crowds and terrible downpours. But it was also the most magical experience ever!
