Another POR question

How many floors in the resort buildings? Do they have elevators, or is it like CBR ? Do they have "preferred"? Is it more for the "mansion" vs "alligator bayou"? Thanks

I am more of a POFQ girl myself, but I believe all the buildings are 3 floors. Each building usually has an elevator and some stairwells. I think CBR is the only resort sans elevator.

As far as preferred is concerned, there are rooms you pay more for because of the view. They don't have any "preferred" locations. The resort is huge and nothing is really very near the main food/shopping area.

We're staying there in three weeks, and my wife wanted to stay in the Magnolia Bend area. When I made the request, they said they would key the request in, but that it is not guaranteed. Now, I realize why they would need to say that, just in case lots of other people beat me to the request or something. But, as a general rule, are they pretty good at granting such requests, or is it kind of hit or miss?

When it comes to special requests that are health based (wheelchair accessible, refrigerator, special alarm clocks, etc.) Disney is good. When it comes to requests for specific rooms or buildings they aren't as great. They will always take note of your requests, but they might not be able to fulfill them. When you check in, make another request for the building. They will do their best to get you into it. Just keep in mind that you may have to wait longer for a room in that area to become ready for you. (i.e- you will have to put your stuff in storage)

We've almost always got what we requested (not a specific room, but a general area. It is not guarenteed though, so don't count on it. POR is a great resort - you'll love it.

 Most of the mansions and alligator bayou have 2 floors. there is one bldg. however that has 3 stories but I dont think its the whole bldg. we stayed there once. yes, there are elevators. The "preferred" rooms, as you call them are water view rooms for the mansions. some of the bayou bldgs. are harder to get cause they are right by the food court. Bldg. 14 and 18 are 2 of those. No, it doesnt cost more for the mansions vs. bayou unless you get water view or king bed. I hope this helps. POR is our most fave resort. have a magical trip. oh, yeah, we have requested the mansions every time and got them. mention it again at check-in.

To clarify...

At Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort:

Alligator Bayou buildings are 2 stories tall and do not have elevators.
Magnolia Bend Mansions have 3 story center buildings and 2 story wings. Each mansion has elevators.

At Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort:

All buildings are 3 stories and all have elevators.

Room categories at both locations include:

Standard View Rooms - view of Parking Area, Gardens, or Courtyards; room offers 2 double beds.
Water View Rooms - view of pools or river; room offers 2 double beds.
King Bed Room - non-designated view; room offers 1 king-size bed.

Trundle beds are available in select Standard View and Water View rooms in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans Riverside. A trundle bed is a child sized bed that pulls out from underneath one of the double beds and can accommodate a child under 10 years of age who is less then 5 feet tall and weights less then 150 lbs. A trundle bed is a request only and cannot be guaranteed unless the party consist of 5 guests with one guest between the ages of 3-9 years old.

Fun Facts:

The Sassagoula River is themed after the Mississippi River. A man-made body of water (the waterway was originally woodlands) shared by both Riverside and French Quarter, which links both Regions to Pleasure Island and the Downtown Disney Marketplace. Sassagoula is the Indian word for "Mississippi." The length of the river is approximately 2 1/2 miles beginning upriver at the Riverside Region and continuing downriver past the French Quarter Region ending at the entry of Village Lake.

It took hundreds of people working over 48 hours to plant the live oak tree (Quercus virginiana) on Ol' Man Island. It is the largest living oak tree ever to be transplanted, with an original height of 55 feet and a weight of approximately 85 tons (including box and dirt). This Live Oak and it's sister tree in front of Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, where transplanted from the current site of Disney's Animal Kingdom Park.

Thanks a lot everyone! Just another question: Which is better AB or Magnolia and are they the only 2 choices? Of the better what buildings are good to ask for? As far as better, of course I'm talking closer to the food court and bus stop. Thank you all!

I prefer Magnolia Bend (the mansions), but they are a further walk to the food court. We stayed in Alligator Bayou once, and we felt it was a bit too rustic for us....
