Trip Report Another Jolly Holiday ~ JOY From the World ! *COMPLETED*

At the conclusion of my last trip report
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-jingle-bam-birthday-completed.922901/
I ended with To be continued....

Well, here's the continuation. :) Though to be fair, the trips were totally different and not connected in any way except they both included Me (yep, a humble one I am!) And for the second time in a year, I left WDW only to return a week later. I am very grateful that I can visit my favorite place as often as I do and am honored that y'all follow along.

I booked this trip on a bounce back offer while vacationing last year:
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/its-a-jolly-holiday-completed.909445/

And this year I may have booked a bounce back offer for December 2017. Okay, I did book. But my love/hate relationship with traveling in December and a few unknowns for the fall may cause me to cancel. Time will tell.

Ready to read about our latest adventures? There's DRAMA :jawdrop:. And ELEVATOR COOKIES . And maybe even a RED CARD ;).

Dates: December 10-15, 2016
Resort: Disney's Wilderness Lodge (duh....it's Christmas!)
Cast: Tuvalu and Woody

For those of you who guessed Peter Pan as our first attraction, you'd be wrong! We actually made a beeline for 7DMT. Unfortunately so did everyone else. We were prepared to wait 30 minutes but not 60 like the standby sign indicated ~ and the end of the line was wrapped around the mountain, not even close to the entrance where the standby time started. C'mon, it was only 9:05 am! :in pain: The dwarfs were gonna have to mine without us.

But you know what is directly across from 7DMT........

We were in and out in less than 5 minutes. So those of you who guessed Pooh would be first, congrats! You Pan people have to settle for second place. ;)

But it was at Peter Pan that we received the much-coveted RED CARD!!!!!!! :D :p

The ride stopped for a minute at the Mermaid lagoon.

(I have read claims that the mermaid with the red hair is Ariel. To that I say, nuh uh!!)

We needed to take care of some business before moving on to the next ride.

I just love this waterfall. (Oh, and the man posing in front of it!)

Look at all the detail in this one little corner of my favorite Mansion. Next time you're in line, instead of looking at the Mansion as a "whole", try to focus on a few small areas. You'll be delighted by what you see!

Truth: I never realized this dude is wrapped by a serpent (or "snake-like creature" as Ellen would say.)

The interactive ending was not working, which is always a bummer. But I was happy to see a Photopass photographer at the exit, as typically there isn't one early in the morning.

Okay, I just have to include this next shot. Not for us, but for the celebrity in the background.

Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you.......

Time for our first FP.

"Jingle Cruise, Jingle Cruise, Jingle all the way......"

IMG_4869.JPG

IMG_4868.JPG

Wait, what? No chicken?
IMG_4870.JPG

Of course you can't tell the sign has no chicken. But everything chicken had become turkey. Which I thought was hilarious and warranted a picture. But the camera in my phone can't work miracles. You'll just have to trust me on this. (Better yet, go read @ajrwdwgirl's trip report. She has a terrific picture of the sign which validates my "turkey" claim! :p)

We had a quick-witted Skipper who fired off jokes so fast (new ones we had not heard) that our boat never stopped laughing. It is the Skipper who makes or breaks your ride, and this guy was the BEST! (I don't have a picture and cannot recall his name. Again, you'll have to trust me on this. ;))

After we were safely back on dry land, our FP window for our next boat ride opened.

There was a big puddle on the seat which I did not notice until after I sat down. Soaked me to the skin. Not a pretty sight when we made our way to lunch.

I'm afraid I failed this round @Tuvalu :(

The only ride that's popping into my head is The Carousel of Progress?
YOU WIN!!!!!!!!

Scene 3: Mother is turning the basement into something called a rumpus room.
"Mother, how do you like that newfangled paint mixer I created for you?"
"Yes, John, you're a genius. Of course this will ruin my cake mixer...."

For the first time ever (not in forever, just ever) I was a bit apprehensive about lunching at Be Our Guest, thanks to the poor experience Em and I had last week. I debated canceling the ADR, but then I thought about the delicious grey stuff and decided to give BOG another chance.

We walked right in, paid for our pre-order and found a table in the ballroom near the Christmas tree ~ the same table Em and I had used!

Our food arrived promptly and Woody declared, "Marie must have just baked these baguettes ~ they are very fresh!"
IMG_4876.JPG

Both our sandwiches had ample turkey (so it's my second day in a row of eating turkey, what's it to ya? ;)) and the fries were hot. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) was that the piece of chocolate on top of the Master's Cupcake was white, not dark. And there was no Be Our Guest inscription on it.

So BOG managed to win me back....for now.

Woody and I walked to the Fantasyland train station in hopes of taking the MPB to Frontierland. We wasted our steps ~ the train was still not operating! (First the Welcome Show, now this?? :arghh:)

We double-backed and cut through the hub and Adventureland. Our next FP was for the wildest ride in the wilderness!

For you, @Longers. We had to take the selfie while stopped in the station ~ can't expect either of us old geezers to hang on to a cellphone while being jostled around on a roller coaster!

We walked towards the Muppet courtyard and glanced over the wall at the sad remains of New York Street.
(Must not think about Osborne Lights. Must not think about Osborne Lights. Must not think about Osborne Lights.)
I can't stop thinking about Osborne Lights!!! :arghh:

Im so so gutted that the streets of New York are being taken down. It used to be my favourite part of the parks.. you felt like you were really far away from everything & involved in the magic of Hollywood. Such a shame :( hopefully Toy Story land will be Uh-maaazzzing to help make up for it!!!!

Never noticed that before--very cool catch there. Reminds me a little of my grandmother who used to tell us (when we were kids), that when we were in New York City or Boston, to always look UP at the tops of buildings--some really unique details that you could easily miss, because they are not at eye level.

I've Been expecting this one!
It's been 15 long months since I have been able to ride "the fastest ride in the wilderness" and I still have another 10 months until I do it again :( thanks for thinking of me! - I think my trip report title could be - how many times can I ride BTMRR!

I loved the streets too, even when not decorated with Osborne Lights. I do love Toy Story though and look forward to seeing the finished area.

Sunday (con't)

Though Woody had been patient today as we'd traversed the MK through crowded conditions, I could tell he was growing weary and needed a break. It would have been great to climb aboard the train in Frontierland and ride to the front of the park, but no.....

Instead we navigated busy walkways from the BTM exit to the park exit. I thought a relaxing boat ride back to the lodge would lift our spirits.

We watched the ferry empty as we waited for our boat to load.

The early afternoon crowds arrive
IMG_4880.JPG

There was a Disney know-it-all seated across from us and she was giving a running commentary to a family of newbies. Much of it was MK/MK Resorts history, and most of it was wrong. I didn't have the energy to correct her and I knew Woody would be happier if I kept my mouth shut.

As we approached the area below (where the boat normally veers right to go to the lodge), the captain announced we were making a special stop at the Contemporary to pick up a guest in an ECV.

IMG_4883.JPG

A party of 2 (one in an ECV) boarded our boat and we continued on to WL. The small boats that run between Contemporary and WL are not equipped to handle ECVs. Since this was a large boat, the ECV party was able to ride over to the lodge.

Not a fan of the Poly bungalows. Not a fan of the WL cabins either.
