Trip Report Another Jolly Holiday ~ JOY From the World ! *COMPLETED*

At the conclusion of my last trip report
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-jingle-bam-birthday-completed.922901/
I ended with To be continued....

Well, here's the continuation. :) Though to be fair, the trips were totally different and not connected in any way except they both included Me (yep, a humble one I am!) And for the second time in a year, I left WDW only to return a week later. I am very grateful that I can visit my favorite place as often as I do and am honored that y'all follow along.

I booked this trip on a bounce back offer while vacationing last year:
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/its-a-jolly-holiday-completed.909445/

And this year I may have booked a bounce back offer for December 2017. Okay, I did book. But my love/hate relationship with traveling in December and a few unknowns for the fall may cause me to cancel. Time will tell.

Ready to read about our latest adventures? There's DRAMA :jawdrop:. And ELEVATOR COOKIES . And maybe even a RED CARD ;).

Dates: December 10-15, 2016
Resort: Disney's Wilderness Lodge (duh....it's Christmas!)
Cast: Tuvalu and Woody

I really liked the "woods view" room we had last year.....with the trees demolished for DVC cabin construction, we had a great view of the castle and MK fireworks. Unfortunately that room category was not available this year and we were in a "courtyard view" room. The view was just okay ~ we have had other courtyard views which were better.

First, some interior room pics.

On top of the dresser were a couple of items of interest.

Since we had received these same pins last year, we left them for the next occupants.

Wasn't a similar notice in our room at Coronado Springs?

Yet again, since we were flying, adding a night was not an option.

These tiles alway bring a smile to my face.

Woody asked me to pose.

WTH?!! Has WL suddenly become the Tower of Terror? Six floors of guests are supposed to use only ONE elevator???!!! I immediately wished we'd been assigned a room on the first floor....but no, our room was on the fifth. Were endless waits for an elevator in our future? You'll have to wait and see. I will say our first wait was over 7 minutes. :bored:

Wilderness Lodge -- a Disney "Deluxe" category resort . . . one elevator in use for the entire hotel. Yup, that's 5 Star service right there! :hilarious:

Love WL! Staying there at Christmas is a future must do for me! I can't believe they only had one elevator running! That is nuts! Was there a lot of noise from the construction?
Looking forward to more!
We heard no noise at all from the construction. However there was lots of noise unrelated to the construction in a somewhat humorous incident on our last day. Story to come :).

Saturday (con't)

We had to pass a large window in the hall each time we went to the elevator. The window is covered with a pair of shutters that open, so I opened them to peek at the cabin construction and glance at Cindy's castle. If only our room had been on the opposite side of the hallway, we would have had this view <sigh>.

We pushed the button for the elevator and waited. And waited. And waited. A CM (possibly a housekeeping supervisor) joined us and smiled. A couple more minutes passed and she asked, "Have you been waiting long?" We nodded. "Come with me," she said. We followed her behind a Cast Members Only door and there in front of us was a service elevator. (We had entered the Twilight Zone! WL had become the ToT!)

"How long has that elevator been broken?" I asked.
"A couple days. It has been difficult finding a repairman to work on the weekend." (SAY WHAT???)

Fortunately we had a smooth ride down; no drops. :joyfull: When the elevator door opened, she pointed the way to the "onstage" exit door. From there we had a short walk to Roaring Fork.

The menu had a special Holiday Turkey Sandwich, with the turkey smoked on-site. Well, y'all know how I feel about my turkey. ;) So my lunch pick was a given ~ what was surprising was that Woody ordered the same. He is not a cranberry fan. But being that the sandwich had whole cranberries (not sauce), he was able to pick them off.

THIS. WAS. DELICIOUS. And the homemade chips were fresh and crispy.

We decided to walk the resort grounds next.

It was a bit chilly, which explains the empty pool.

The outside dining area for Roaring Fork was being refurbished. It looks like a roof is being added.

Care to guess where we're headed?

IMG_4777.JPG

We waited past the original posted time. I was beginning to think the W in WL now stood for Waiting.

Looking at pretty Christmas wreaths can lower one's BP.

Finally the bus came and we were on our way. Did you guess correctly?

Our first stop once inside the Studios gate was Guest Relations. This time it was Woody who needed a new Passholder card. I won't repeat my diatribe on the ridiculousness of having to make a special visit to Guest Relations to obtain this silly card; that was in my last TR. For those of you curious as to why Woody's AP date does not match mine and Em's, a few years ago he received a bit of Disney magic. And by magic I mean a distracted CM who put the current date on Woody's renewal AP as the expiration, essentially giving him 3 extra months. (Which means we don't ever have to pay two renewals in the same month. :greedy:)

Naturally the wait for the card was long and our first FP window had opened. Thankfully we made it before it closed, because this was standby:

Even the FP line was backed up. I took a few pics as the line moved very slowly.
