Another Hatbox Ghost Rumor...

Why not? Because the Hatbox Ghost defined the whole missing head gag in the first place his prominence could/should take priority over picture-framed suitors; a second-tier gag alluding to the Hatbox Ghost's original effect.

It's very possible that Constance will be retooled to take a backseat for Hattie's rumored rebirth...and later attic rebirth. If not a throwback to the heartbeating bride I can still see Constance being tweaked to make room for the attic's new star.
Bringing back the Hatbox Ghost has been an ongoing effort for years. The Constance attic probably anticipated his return all along.

Yes...the Attic has been toying with introducing him for a long time...as evident by Constance's birth. The figures work well together which is my reason for posing the question of whether or not the original in unison beating heart gag (or similar) would be making a comeback.

I'm not particularly passionate about Haunted Mansion; it's just sort of an old standby that is fun to go on occasionally, but is more notable for its short or non-existent lines most of the year.

That said, I wouldn't be upset at all if the Hatbox Ghost returns and a remake of that entire attic scene is triggered by Hatties return. I think the disappearing head portraits go over 95% of riders, and you have to know the attraction history or its several fabricated plotlines from the late 20th century to understand what you're looking at.

In the 1970's and 80's, the attic was just a spooky place with a creepy bride with a beating heart. It didn't make sense, and it didn't need to, like the rest of the ride. It was just a creepy/spooky visual scene you passed through, no plot required. If they bring back the Hatbox Ghost maybe they can get rid of the ex-husbands losing their heads gag, which many people don't even pick up on in its current format.

There I agree with you. I don't care what modern WDI thinks, the attic was far more effective with ghouls blasting up screaming at you.

Yeah, weren't those great?! The vanishing head portraits are too subtle to notice, and even if you are looking for it it's hard to follow as your vehicle moves through that scene. It's not scary or spooky, nor is it witty, it's just sort of dumb.

The D23 mockup was built using the AA framework of Lincoln and a quickly re-jiggered head sculpt. If and when Hatty returns to the atty; the working rumor is that he will be built true to the original model using similar practical effects as employed in '69 but with better result through the use of current technology (my guess: a practical figure combined with projection e.g. 7D mine train or just better lighting)

That's a great relief. I really didn't like that AA at D23. It was neat that Hattie was there at all, but I like the original design much better.

I miss those Blast-up Ghosts!

I think when WDI started pushing the bride storyline they inadvertently sealed the Blast-up Ghost's fate.

Opinion: As soon as they went from "Boo!" to "I do!" they lost all of their frightening fun as the Attic became progressively worse with each upgrade.

Well some people are actually frightened by the creepy Constance, especially her voice. But I agree those pop up ghosts would be better.

The problem with Constance, besides the inexcusable execution of a badly aligned projection on what is clearly just a dress form dummy, is that it has a tone not present elsewhere in the ride. Everything is one certain style, then you get to the attic and it's like, what the heck was that? It makes no sense AND it's poorly done. It's not creepy, it's not scary, it's just DUMB.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Mansion was created in the late 60s and it is very much a product of its time. The modern additions to it feel out of place. Constance doesn't look like a ghost in either the Disneyland or the "upgraded" Magic Kingdom version, and the woman they got to portray her/voice her is just all wrong. I don't really know what they were thinking, but I guess we're stuck with it now. Bring back the blast-ups, bats and freaky bride with the candle, you can keep your soccer mom bride with a hatchet and portraits.

At times I think they're supposed to be out of place. You can tell the new, better Imagineers "fixed" it.

Well, these "improvements" are why I find the Magic Kingdom of the Mansion so offensive despite what seems like universal praise and preference over the Disneyland version, which is still closer to how it was originally.
