Another fastpass plus question...

Have you heard anything about how park hopping will be accommodated yet? If you reserve 3 fp's at one park, then hop to another will you be able to get additional day-of passes there?

My bet is yes. I don't think they want to discourage park hopping necessarily. They make money selling park hoppers and it also helps disperse crowds. But just my bet.

No, the MagicBands would more likely be after FastPass+ is fully implemented. If you have a MagicBand there is no way to use the existing FastPass machines. There is no incentive to upgrade the FastPass machines because they will be removed after FastPass+ is completely live.

Whoops, you're right. Forgot about the aspect of the bands not working with the current FP machines.

No one knows for sure. My guess is that yes, "day ofs" will be available using the app (not paper, those are going away).

Yes, I know the paper FP machines are going away. Maybe I didn't phrase my question right. What I am asking is, for example, I get the FP+ with the Magic Band, then go online and set up the three FP's per person per day 60 days in advance. Can I then still get more FP's on the "day of" at the park with the app or at the kiosk?

Not yet really known as Disney has not released the details.

Oh gotcha, sorry about that. Yeah, no one knows for sure. My guess is that yes, we'll be able to get more FPs on the day of. Now what will be left at that point...that will be the big question.

Yes, you will...it will work like current fastpasses, there will just be less of them to go around...
But before we get ahead of ourselves, the testing is a big mess at this point, so I don't think we need to worry about any of this for now

Yeah, I don't expect a whole lot to be left. We actually make a little joke and laugh each trip about getting a Toy Story MWM FP when we get to DHS. LOL

I'm going to predict that the regular FP machines will disappear shortly after the FP+ crap begins, if not sooner.

I don't pretend to have any inside knowledge...just a history of watching disney copy Uni. :)

They have to make the machines disappear to get people on the new system...so this makes sense.

And, duh. Why spend all that money if you aren't doing it to increase hotel occupancy. Worked for Uni.

Uni got EP. Disney got FP.

Uni did FOTL, Disney is going to try their anemic imitation.

Uni got rid of the EP machines and Disney will get rid of the FP machines.

It’s all about the numbers. The 3 Deluxe Resorts at Universal have a combined 2,400 rooms. WDW has about 30,000. Furthermore, the Universal hotels don’t have the same occupancy rates as WDW. Then if you look at the attraction count, Epcot, DHS, and DAK simply don’t have that many attractions compared to US & IOA. (MK has a ton.) All told, Universal has the ride capacity to offer its relatively few onsite guests unlimited FP and still devote ride capacity to guests in Standby lines.

Is it possible Disney eventually will offer a special FP+ perk for onsite guests? Sure; I've speculated reasons why Disney needs to do this eventually. Like you said, improving hotel occupancy rates is perhaps the most important one. However, based on the numbers, Disney will never be able to match Universal's front-of-the-line access. As you suggest, it will be, at best, an "anemic imitation".

MagicBands are designed so that the gangs of Ukranian identity thieves (that hide in the black squares of the Swan and Dolphin) can steal our personal and financial data.

Don't care, I still want one!
