Hi Everyone! Since our next trip is going to include our first time actually staying at an ocean front beach resort, I figured why not take a stab at my first ever pre-trip report?
Here we are in 2008 during our first on-site trip:
I probably have more recent pictures, but I just joined Photo Bucket and I don't have anything else of the two of us at work (yes, I'm doing this at work, but at least I look busy!) Neither of us are big fans of having our picture taken though, so most of our Disney pictures do not include us!
We've been DVC members since right before that 2007 trip (we bought OKW through a resale). Since that 2007 trip we have become just a little obsessed with Disney!
We have been married for 18 years now, and will be celebrating our 19th anniversary during the trip. We originally were planning May 11 - 18, but then DVC announced the great deal on the premium AP. Since our current APs expire May 20 and we can't get the new ones before the old ones expire we changed our dates to May 18 - 24. We'll start the trip with the old APs and then turn in our vouchers for the new ones on May 21, which is our actual anniversary . We also decided since this will be Memorial Day weekend we could add a few days at Vero Beach without having to take any extra time off work!
Here's the breakdown of the trip:
May 18 Arrive at OKW
May 24 Check out of OKW and drive to Vero Beach
May 26 Check out of Vero Beach and head back to MCO
We haven't booked our flights yet, but I'm looking at a return flight to Detroit that doesn't leave until 7:00 PM from MCO to maximize our time at the beach.
We used to purchase the deluxe DP, but on our October 2011 trip we decided it was just too much food and too much planning and coordinating to get from reservation to reservation. On our last trip in September, we decided to do the standard plan and it worked much better, so we'll probably do that again.
We don't really have much planning done yet, other than the dates picked and the reservations made, but we do need to start planning our dining soon!
Thanks for joining me on this planning journey. I'm really excited about the trip, the first time at Vero and my first pre-trip report!
