Not to bummed about this since it was 10% before the 45th. I am ed about the lack of AP discounts on rooms. Been slim pickings the last year or so and it is getting worse.

I believe it needs to all be on the same check but I'm not 100% on that.

You are correct. There needs to be one unique AP for each check. If you split to multiple checks, there needs to be a separate AP for each individual check.

They only have AP room promotions when they have unreserved capacity they want to fill. It's a strategy to fill empty rooms, at low times of the year, not a benefit guaranteed to passholders.

Several locations at Swan and Dolphin have 20% off with DVC - interesting way for them to entice DVC folks away from Disney dining. I have both AP and DVC and I'm planning on trying some new places for 20% off on my next trip.

There really does need to be Annual Passholder discounts for quick service due to the artificial inflation of prices because of DDP. It's just crazy the prices for dining now at WDW if you are there regularly.

It states it right on the link...
"offer is valid for the Passholder and up to 3 guests."
I understand that. I am wondering if we all do one check if I can count 3 of the rest of the party and my wife can count the other 3? Or if we would need to do separate checks to do that?

pretty grand statement coming from you sir.
It is the reality.

That being said, I expected nothing more. I purchased an AP because it was the least expensive form of admission I could get that matched up the frequency of our visits. The perks were nice and I took advantage of them when I could, but I would have most likely purchased an AP if it had none.

this is true at the bare minimum an AP allows entry for penny's on the dollar if you go truly often.

I know this will not be a popular opinion, but folks really need to get over the idea that an Annual Pass is a ‘discount card’. It is a different form of admission media that offers admission to the parks, based on the level you choose. If you keep thinking about it as some sort of discount card, you will be perpetually disappointed.

You're kind of right, but it's a 365 day park admission ticket that's sold with additional benefits that add value beyond simple admission.

I don’t think of it that way. I am saddened by the loss of a benefit that I enjoyed but never expected to last forever. I never expected my grandmother to last forever either.

Life is perpetual disappointment.

Also, I’m assuming the merchandise discount was lowered back to 10 as well, right?

That was definitely another thing we used more frequently. Actually bought a few shirts and other things inside the park instead of at the two OTown Character Outlets.

This move? We had APs for about 15 years straight starting in 1998 and I have never felt any more than a "We will call you when we need you" level of value.

Good point. I haven't had an AP in a few years, but other members of my family have and do. When I think back, it's never really felt like an AP has had any great value beyond admission to the parks, much like what @donsullivan said. IIRC, we would get the same, if not better, discounts via DVC. It would be nice if TDO treated the Annual Passholder like a valued guest, but at the end of the day, they treat you like a rube who just visits the parks more often than others.
