Annual Passes for Non-FL Residents

We have decided to buy annual passes this year for the first time with the hopes of taking at least 2 trips this year to the "World". (Once this Oct 01 and in Apr 02). It made sense to do this if we stay 1 week each time. Does anyone else that lives outside Florida buy annual passes? How many times a year do you go and how long do you stay? How far do you travel? It also made sense to buy the passes with the deep discounts on the rooms.

I don't have an AP currently, but my family and I did have them though most of the millennium celebration. We managed to take 3 trips during that time: Two that lasted 7 days, and one that lasted 10. We had planned to go for a weekend before the passes expired, but we couldn't make it.

I'm not sure about current prices, but in our case, since we knew we would be taking the first two trips, it was cheaper to buy the AP. And then, since we already had the passes, it was an easy decision to go a third time.

We decided to buy the AP also since it is such a good deal. It will make next years vacations much cheaper. Our drive down will be 10-12 hours. We plan on going back at Christmas and any other long weekends we have. The discounts on the rooms alone pay for one AP. Maybe we will run into you since we will also be there Oct. 1. I can't wait. We did move our vacation back a week so we can be there for the 100 yr. celebration.

We always buy the AP and plan two trips of 7-8 days 51 weeks apart. This way we get two annual Mickey fixes for a much lower price. We fly down from PA alternating between paying and using our frequent flyer miles. The extras with the AP, like discounted mini-golf are a nice plus.:p :p

I'm with you Chellnjr. We have about a 10-12 hr drive from Knoxville, TN. We were thinking about a long weekend during Christmas also.

I agree with disneydentist about the extras. I think you can get into Disney Quest on your AP.

By the way disney dentist, I'm a disney optometrist.

We buy annual passes every other year....timing our trips so that we get 2 summer vacations and one spring vacation out of the trips...
this year, we used the tickets for 22 days...we will use them again april 2002 for another 7 days...and again next june/july for 21+ days...

we travel from Connecticut....2.25 hrs by air....20 hrs by car...

geesh...it just occured to me that we were asked these SAME questions by a CM as we entered MGM this year...ah...er..you' ain't one of them r u?

We bought annual passes for the 5 of us. This past year we will have visited WDW 3 times. Nov. 2000 was 10 days, June 2001 was 3 days, and Oct. 2001 is for 8 days. We travel about 900 miles to visit WDW. The annual passes definitely saved us $$. :D
