Annual Pass Rumors

See I think with the cut of the magic express. I’m more inclined to rent a car and I don’t want to pay for parking at the resort and then again at the parks. That’s silly to me. Because quite honestly I think transportation from the deluxe resorts to the parks is pretty lousy. Except magic kingdom. But I find it to be total BS the deluxe resorts end up sharing buses. So I’d prefer free parking opposed to 10% off of merchandise. Plus that will limit my wife’s spending while we’re down there. 😂

Currently, anyone who stays at a Disney resort gets free parking at the parks. Right now, it is 20% off merchandise with some exceptions of premium brands. It is 10% off table service restaurants. If you are worried about renting a car and paying parking fees, then rent DVC points and you will not have to pay as parking is included in the DVC member's maitenance fees.

Technically you get parking if you’re a “DVC member staying on points”…

it’s a tolerated activity they have gone along with at this point. No “privileges” are extended on rentals - which someone just looked up and posted on a similar thread aren’t actually allowed according to the contract.

Whatever. I never had to pay for parking and it is considered a DVC reservation even if points are rented and DVC members are using their points for the reservation. They cannot charge a member or their guests for parking since a DVC member pays annual maitenance fees. There is also nothing in their contracts that say they cannot rent out their points to someone else, so your point is moot. This was discussed ad nausem when the parking fees came about. No need to bring it up again other than to just beat a dead horse.

…read your contract.

Technically you get free parking when staying “on your membership” - which includes any stay booked through DVC whether on points or cash.

Someone claimed DVC rentals aren’t allowed?

Rentals are expressly permitted according to the POS (public offering statement document). Commercial rentals are expressly not permitted, and DVC have their own criteria for determining when rentals become commercial - typically around 20 reservations in a rolling year where the owner is not listed on the reservation.

Rentals are technically permitted “by your own means”…this was debated years ago and it seems that if you use one of the third party vulture sites for fee…it would be considered a violation. But it’s all interpretive and they are the judge.

it was never designed as a halfway house for points.

they tolerate it…to this point. It could be written away knowing their penchant for modification to those contracts in a heartbeat…If we want to be serious.

They could change it for new resorts going forward. But that would also mean you couldn’t gift a stay to friends and family. It could also prevent you booking a second room for guests.

I don’t think they can change the POS.

They could try and clamp down on brokers but I don’t see it happening. They did change the rules and forced brokers to change their operation model before.

So, a question?
DW & I were lucky enough to snag a NEW, un-redeemed GP prior to the pass lockdown.
We will activate this NOV 2021.

Anyone have any idea what we will get? And is WDW going to try to demand more money?

Should have it remain a gold pass until nov 2022 and will have all gold pass benefits until it expires. My understanding is that when it expires you will then have to renew into one of the new options. But you will pay the renewal fee not the new fee.

Anyone know if 2 outta 3 people have a AP while the one without is a child can they all go through the AP tapstyle? I'm assuming no but never been an AP before so just curious.

I don't see AP's coming back and eventually all AP's will be phased out. With all this talk of an Amazon Prime like program, I can see Disney replacing AP's with a loyalty based program. Much like casinos....the more you spend....the more perks you get. Just a thought so don't take this as insider info. Such a shift will continue to give more clout to those with money.

Yeah I think they’re done too. Only a significant recession/drawback in consumer spending may change that (and a strong possibility)

What’s hard to explain is the concept they won’t let people renew…that seems foreign and I don’t have an understanding why?
