I would say it is probably only worth it if you are going to go again within the one year time span. If you are only going for seven days, it is not quite break even, especially if you won't be getting a room discount. But if you are planning on going again and will visit a total of 9 days over the year, then you may be able to get a room discount on your next visit that will add to it. I would also recommend the TiW card over the DDP if you are going to get the AP, in my experience it is a much better value and you will save more money over the long term. The key to the AP being worth it, is that you have to use the discounts every opportunity you get, weather it is on food, merchandise, or rooms, if you don't use it. For a 7 day stay (Park Hopper Option) tickets are $391.92. If you then went again later for 2 days, that would be an additional $258.80 for a total of $650.72 per adult with no discounts. The AP is $648.59 per adult, so the additional trip as well as the discounts are where you can make the savings, plus you get a discounted renewal rate of about $100 less, so that is nice as well. I can tell you that my wife and I are both AP holders and we live in Houston. We have gone as far as adding up all of the discounts that we have received on purchases, rooms, TiW food, and have found that at the end of two trips each year, the discounts have paid for the passes, so it is almost like getting the tickets for free, but you have to take advantage of the discounts.
