Annual Pass Question

I did a search for this question first but I did not see any answer to it. I currently have an annual pass (standard) and I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade that to a premium AP for my next trip. It expires in September and I was wondering if they do allow this upgrade will it be pro rated (less money since it is not a full year) to the time I have left? Thanks to all who reply :)

As far as I know, you can upgrade any pass at any time (assuming that it's possible to upgrade the kind of pass you have.) I'm pretty certain that you are correct - you would pay the prorated amount of the difference in price between the two passes.
Annual passes: that's the way to go!

You should be able to upgrade. It all depends on how much time you have left on your current pass, and i believed you have to do it at guest services or at the parks.

If I lived within say 4 hours of disney I'd definitely have one. I'm a little too far to just drive over for the day whenever I want, but it would be nice.

From http://allearsnet.com/pl/apass.htm

What if I decide I want to change to a PAP after I already used my AP?
You can do this. It will be handled just like any other pass upgrade. There was a time that you could upgrade your AP to a PAP simply by paying the prorated difference on the remaining time of your AP. (Example - not actual prices - : a $120 cost difference translates to $12 per month. If you had 3 months to run on your AP it would have cost you $36 to upgrade to a PAP that would expire when your old AP did.) But there have been reports that Disney will no longer pro-rate an AP for this. If you want to upgrade an AP to a PAP now you will be charged the entire price difference ($120 in the example) for whatever time you have remaining on the AP.

I live in Michigan, but I have one. It pays off in a lot more ways than just if you live nearby!
I'm not sure exactly with the Magic Your Way tickets, but previously, it figured out that if you go to the parks (including hopping) more than eight days in one year or something, that the annual pass works out to be the same or cheaper.
Beyond that, you get discounts at various places, you are eligible for the Disney Dining Experience, and then, of course, there are the annual pass Resort rates. (I paid $79 a night for POR at the end of Jan. for a $139/night room! A couple days of that makes up for any difference in the cost of the pass!)

Yeah, but I still have to sell the wife on it. I'd go for a weekend about every 3 months or so, but I haven't gotten her that Disney obsessed yet.

yes, you can upgrade your annual pass to a premium annual pass, but no... it won't be pro-rated. You will be paying over $100 dollars a ticket and it will expire sometime in September..

Disney hasn't pro-rated its tickets in over 8 years... so much for allearsnet

Thanks for the replys all. Now to weigh the price of the water parks, PI and DQ to see if it warrants $240.00 more :veryconfu

You can get an annual pass to the waterparks for $99. We were going to upgrade our annual passes too but we decided to just buy the waterpark pass instead. We wouldn't go to PI, DQ much so its the best deal for us and our passes renew in August.
