Annual Pass Previews of Pandora - The World of Avatar beginning May 13

For those you spent time in Pandora, can you give me your 5 best tips on visiting the land. thanks

You'll want to rope drop Flight of Passage, or have an FP+. The queue looks like it can handle three hours of waiting guests. The sims take 14 people per bay and it loads like the Simpsons. The ride itself is utterly amazing. The land area itself is very small. Also the QS is a 10/10, easily the best QS food at any Disney park. Hopefully they maintain that level of excellence.

My preview is 6-8 next Sunday. I have Tiffin's dinner at 5pm with out of town family. With a lining up 90 minutes ahead of preview time standard, it's going to be a bust for me (as far as getting FOP FP+ ticket). I guess I'll scarf down Tiffins as fast as possible and just see what happens trying to get into the preview at 6pm - or later if Tiffins service is slow.

I probably should have went with one of the DVC previews.

Oh - the life dilemmas!
;)

After the initial burst of people it really slows down, there isn't a lot to do there other than the two rides, one gift shop, gift cart, picture ops and QS so people didn't really linger. The river ride was literally a walk on.

We were in the 9-11 window today and had a blast. No issues with our reservation or magic bands (despite my earlier concerns). Many irate guests complaining to CM's that they couldn't get in.

They gave a nice brochure and "field guide," but they were one per family.

We were given 9:30-10:00 FP's for FoP. No line or anything, but things did seem a bit slow because it took half an hour for the preshows and ride, despite walking right up to the first grouping room. Note, they are sticking firm to the FP times. Literally wouldn't let the 9:30 group in even a minute early. My son wouldn't go on till after I had assured him it wasn't too thrilling; by the time I rode and got off, it was past the 10:00 end time and they wouldn't allow him on.

I liked that non-riders could do the queue tour.

RJ actually went down for about 10 minutes right before we were to board.

We liked Sat'uli, but they're still obviously getting the kinks worked out. They were serving breakfast, but decided to come back a little later for lunch. Seemed like typical breakfast fare, not "Pandoraish" like the regular menu.

While other preview windows might be a little different, they didn't sweep us out. we finished our lunch and left the land about 11:30. By that time, a lot more people had arrived.

Definitely look forward to coming back once everything is in place, especially the night time ambiance. However, I'd also highly recommend coming first thing in the morning to soak up Pandora before the crush of people arrive.

We had the 3-5 slot today. We left lunch at Rainforest just after 2 and walked right into the line that was all the way into the Oasis. Since the return time on MDX said 2pm, we decided to give it a shot. The line moved quickly and our MBs got us in well before our booked preview time. They also handed us FPs for FoP - these were good from 3-3:15.

River Journey had about a 10 min. wait, so we did that first. From there we strolled around for a minute and then went to FoP. Since my wife is pregnant, she wasn't going to be able to ride, but we were glad that she and our two-year-old could at least tour the standby queue. We walked through that, and it was just bfore 3 by the time we got to the merge area for FP and standby. The CM let my stepdaughter and I hop over from standby into the FP queue there (despite the fact that it wasn't yet 3 - but it would've been pointless for us to go alllllll the way out and back up) and we then went to the final portion of the queue before the preshows. We had to wait for maybe two groups to go in before it was our turn.

I was glad to get to ride it. I assumed it would be down, have a long wait, or the FPs weren't going to be handed out like we read about yesterday. It was a fantastic ride, but not one that made me say "OMG this is the greatest thing ever." I'd personally put both Potter rides ahead of it, as well as Tower, and heck, even Radiator Springs Racers. But that's just me!

Satu'li was well done as well. We only went for dessert and beer (Mo'ara High Country Ale was pretty good), but I look forward to having a meal here soon.

Just wanted to thank everybody for their input and tips! Wife and I are scheduled for 6-8pm this Friday; we'll line up pretty early based on everybody's recommendations :).

I'm 3-5 on the 18th so I'm going to try and get there around 1ish lol. I had planned on being in the park anyway that morning so it will work out. Hopefully they continue to let guests in early and let them hang around after their time.

I was told that queue was made to handle a 6 hour wait. It's huge.

Tip for everyone that has an AP preview scheduled: My experience

My time was from 3-5 on Saturday. I went up to the area at about 1:30 just to get some info from the cast-member up front. He told me that there was no need to rush, that some people were coming in well after their scheduled time, that wait times were reasonable etc. So because of that, we didn’t line up super early, and it began raining pretty heavily about 2:45. We walked up to Pandora at about 3:05, while it was still pouring, and entered anyway.

We walked to the boat ride first (partially because it was the closest to get us out of the rain). The posted wait was 30 mins, and it was actually about 20. After that, we headed over to FOP, and here’s where it got interesting. I was told that you had to have a FP to ride (no standby), and that they had a “limited amount” that they handed out at the front when you entered. (As a side note, these were hardly FP’s, I think they were just giving times out to try to stagger and try to ensure the majority was only riding once). I, of course, was confused and quite irritated. As we were never handed fastpasses, and I had just spoken to someone that said there was no need to rush and never mentioned them.

After speaking to 4 different people, each one shuffling me off to someone more in the front of the land, I finally made my way back to the very front, where a lady was holding a huge stack of tickets. I informed her that we never received anything coming in, and she very quickly handed me our 3 tickets. It seemed that there was some confusion once the rain started, and for whatever reason the tickets were covered/hidden/etc. so they wouldn’t get wet. I’m not sure why this was never communicated to the CM’s at the front of the ride, as I’m sure it would have limited a lot of confusion and frustration for both parties.

I think that wasted almost a half hour, and we probably were in line for FOP longer than we would have been had we been in line earlier, but it was well worth the wait. By the time we got out of the ride, it was nearly 6:30, and grabbed some food at the QS. We could have done the boat ride again, but we were wet and tired.

Just make sure they give you a FP even if it’s raining, or don't somehow miss them when walking in! I’m not convinced waiting in line early is worth it, as the CM’s actually told me they were discouraging it due to lack of room to have people wait. However, it sounds like some others here had a different experience with the FP availability later in the day so... better safe than sorry?

In the forest area before the lab.
Ah, I was right in the lab. At least I had a nice clean new trashcan to sit up against.

We were at a standstill for I think almost 40 mins. And had one announcement maybe 20-25 mins in. I think they could have communicated a little better with what was going on...

Anyone know if non riders of FOP will be able to tour the Que when it opens to general public?

Pretty sure. Any ride currently allows this I believe. You just ask to exit at last moment.
Given the length of the queue, unless you're spending time with others who are riding and bailing out at the end, that seems like it would be an astonishing amount of time to spend/waste just to see the queue. Don't get me wrong, the queue is absolutely amazing from beginning to end but it would essentially take just short of the published standby time to do that. It's not like people would let you go 'ahead' of them when you say you're not going to ride. This seems like an opportunity to view one of the many videos that are out there on YouTube now that it's well into previews.

I missed all the queue. I guess it was slow today.... I was impressed by FOP much so, but is it hands down better than Forbidden Journey? I think not.

Overall the land is unbelievable and the Singing Shaman AA looks even more impressive in person. For someone who doesn't really like the movie it was pretty damn awesome.

I'm starting it think that the only reason I saw the queue is because it was backed up about 45 mins. I remember a cast member directing us to a different line. Didn't realize at the time but I think he dispersed us to the standby line to spread out the lines better as it because backed up. Then we were able to walk through both the forest and the lab. (At the price of an extra 45 mins wait).
