News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

In a perfect world, Imagineers will incorporate the Munchkins set, along with Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion, into the new 'Runaway Train'. The perfect connection is this scene from 'A Christmas Story'. Mickey interacts with the Oz characters, much to Mickey's chagrin ! The new '2.5 D' effects would really wow the crowd and be a great tip of the hat to the defunct GMR. :)

The only problem is that "A Christmas Story" is terribly, horribly overrated and has no business in WDW, or any where, for that matter.

So what's the current leading rumor for this attraction?

A big ole question mark. We're left to guess. Spirit says no way it's Poppins, others have said "Poppins isn't the current flavor/first choice". That's all we've got. Who knows how many more months and years we'll have to keep guessing :joyfull:

Have we confirmed if the attraction is expected to be new and original? I randomly thought what if they would place the Mad Tea Party in the U.K. Pavilion and remove it from MK, or a copy of the Alice in Wonderland ride from Disneyland? I know it's probably not likely but it just crossed my mind.

I kinda wonder if we are all completely off on the guesses. Like maybe it will be some weird concept like Romeo and Juliet but featuring Mickey and company.

I'd love a non-IP (everyone, stop laughing!) attraction. I guess it could be. I mean, we've all listed just about every IP that could fit in the UK or be stretched to fit in the UK, lol. No one's really said it's not so and so either. I wish they would so we could knock a few off the lists (and logic says most of them aren't even in the realm of possibility).

I feel like someone among the insiders confirmed that it is IP based. But I just wonder if it's not as straight forward as we all are guessing. Maybe it might be something abstract like Peter Pan flies us around the UK to visit various monuments, a merger of actual culture with IP. Seems unlikely, but who knows.

I mean, it will probably be a Brave book report ride, but maybe we'll get lucky. It did seem like the insiders were potentially pleased with the options (though recognizing that it is going to be a small scale attraction, not an E-ticket).

Gnomeo and Juilet! How did nobody think of that?! :D

Although oddly, it doesn't look like Disney is involved with the sequel coming out next year. Doubly troubling is that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is involved... Disney would never allow a ride promoting any of those films!! So I suppose we can just about cross this one off too.

The ones who say definitely Poppins is off boards. @marni1971 is in the middle saying Poppins is a contender, but not the leader... at the moment.

The Muppets present "A History of British Rock n Roll"

Miss Piiggy as Shirley Bassey, Animal as Tom Jones

The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Proclaimers, Gerry Rafferty and Lulu .......

NI is tricky, everyone I can think of is Irish - Bono, Bob Geldof, Dana

Or they could do The Muppets present Sherlock Holmes, any historical event (Henry VIII, Princes in the Tower), writers (bringing in IPs).

Yep, this thread is going in circles ;)

Nope. We know nothing other than the following:
  • It is a ride (so, not a maze)
  • Not a carousel
  • Not a Ferris Wheel
  • It's somewhere between a B and a D ticket (so it won't look like Ratatouille next door)
  • Probably not themed to Mary Poppins
Did I miss anything?
