News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

I've always felt flat rides are "extras" in a land, not "the land" or "the attraction". (And I'm in no means opposed to some flat rides in Epcot; I'd take one or two indoors personally, no need to be outside). They're compliments. Extra things to do. I know it's not how they see them though.
If I could like your posts on this topic a million times I would because they are spot on.

Agreed!

PPF E-Ticket off Cherry Tree Lane in the UK, Philharmagic to France theater and IaSW to World Showcase entrance would be better than a flat ride. Of course they could still add the flat ride too.

So mods, feel free to remove this post since it is only partially related to the thread, but since we're talking about a Mary Poppins ride in the UK pavilion, I'd love to share a link to a version of the attraction I'd love to see (but will never happen) and is specifically designed for that location that I just finished working on. I think you'll enjoy it.

This is wonderful work! Good stuff right there- your on your way! May I ask what program you used for the animated footage walk around the UK at the beginning?

What nice, original idea. Too bad that would cost more then a spinner ride.

Seriously........WOW. Even more impressive is that it appears that other than backstage access issues and a ride service area most of the needs are met by this design. Additionally the ride track is fully possible given today's technology. I'm truly impressed.

Thanks! There's space for a ride service area in the design (perhaps slightly cramped), and the only thing I'm not certain about backstage access is if there is enough space for a fire lane and slightly more room between the walls of some scenes, it might require slight adjustment of the millennium village building or ride plan - though I tried to include space for one. The queue is also designed with space for emergency exits though only one is in the plan. :) This was also laid out before the skyliner was announced - so a few adjustments might have to be made for that.

That was phenomenal. That opening London scene with Mary & Bert gave me chills.

This is a great case-study of a situation where Disney has the choice to either [a] maintain an immersive themed environment (the back of the UK pavilion) by adding a beautiful, old-style carousel that would fit the "park" theme, or turn it into an amusement park area by putting in a Dumbo-style spinner. Both would serve the same purpose of adding a family-friendly flat ride. What will Disney do?

Or they can maintain the back of the pavilion as is, and build an immersive dark ride on unused land

win/win/win

Oh, absolutely, a high-budget, immersive attraction would be better. But I meant: if they're already set on building a flat ride, they can do it within the area's theme/aesthetic, or they can destroy the area's theme-aesthetic.
