Animal Kingdom Tusker House Character Breakfast

It's a favorite of ours! We try to get a reservation at 8am so we're in the first seating. We usually get done right before 9am and they have a rope drop right outside the restaurant. If you wait there, you can be in the first couple of vehicles when the Safari opens at 9. Usually lots of animals out and a great time. Get off and right back on, usually without a wait.

We really enjoyed Tusker House. We planned to take advantage of an early start by going on an EMH day. It worked very well for us in October, unlike HS where the morning EMH was slammed-never again! We were at AK in plenty time for EMH opening and were one of first on safari then on to EE multiple times and then to Dinoland rides. Made ADR for 11 and had brunch. Were in process of change over to lunch so got to sample dishes from breakfast and lunch. Characters were great and all in safari costumes. They do a parade round the restaurant and kids are given instruments to play. Planning another ADR there for our next trip but hoping to go for an early reservation on non-EMH day. One tip - don't go on Kali before you go!!

It was a surprise favorite for us. The characters came around twice. The food was sooooo good. OMG.... the food was sooo good lol. Had to say it again to emphasize my point.
We took a late 10:10-10:20 breakfast reservation and got to enjoy both breakfast and lunch! We used the first park hour to ride expedition everest and dinosaur a couple of times, then ate at TH, and then used our fastpasses for the rest of the day.

Best breakfast on property!!! I am not a breakfast person, but I insist on eating at the Tusker House breakfast buffet every trip. I love the atmosphere, character interactions, the parade, but most of all the food. I love the variety of items; it seems like the buffet never ends. Everything is so, so tasty. I would eat there even if it didn't have characters. Meeting Daisy at breakfast though is a bonus for my family. We also make a mid-morning ADR. We like to eat there around 10 or 10:30. We go into the park at opening and knock out a few of the big attractions when there are no lines. As the crowds begin to build in the park, we are relaxing and ready to eat after already riding EE and the Safari. After we eat, we do the walk through exhibits; my stuffed stomach can't handle anything that moves for a while. Definitely eat there!

I am so bummed, they do not have reservations available before rope drop... contemplating if its worth it now...
If you can get a reservation for around 10 am, its definitely good. Spend the first hour doing whatever you don't fast pass, break for breakfast, then afterwards ride everything you have fast passes for.

What worked for us:
Park opened at 9am
Rode Everest 5 times then Dinosaur twice
Breakfast at Tusker House (more like brunch be cause we got the best of both breakfast & lunch) around 10 am
Watched the festival of the lion king
FP+ Safari
Rafiki's Planet watch
A bug's life
Nemo
FP+ Everest
FP+ Kali River Rapids
Left around 3 pm.

We go to Tusker House each trip. In the pre FP+ days we would get a Kilimanjaro Safari fastpass before our ADR, eat and get out just in time for our FP. We didn't go for early admission. Frankly early admission at AK isn't the advantage that it is at MK. EE, KS, KRR and maybe the shows re all you really need to fastpass. We traditionally eat a brunch around 10:30 so the kids and wife can get the traditional breakfast items and I can start to get some of the unique offerings they have for lunch.

It's the best breakfast buffet food and the character interaction is really awesome. Its also great being close to the safari, cause I like to do that first.

Over the last few years, I've decided we must have just gone on an off day. I don't want to sugar coat this though... because it was awful when we went.

Can't remember if we had the 8:05 or 8:10, but it was one of the first seatings. The food was already really picked over and the majority of items were not replenished during our meal. A lot of what was still left was really dried out and nasty. I remember eating a lot of donuts that meal because of this matter. The characters all could have used a stiff cup of coffee. We've done every single character meal- some multiple times- and this is the only time we've ever had every single character be a total dud with interaction and rushed. While my expectations with service at a buffet aren't the same as they'd be with a menu meal, I do expect my server to check in now and then concerning drinks, dirty plates, and the check. We waited so long for our check that any pre-park opening advantage of being that deep in the park was lost.

I've considered giving it a second chance for lunch since the menu looks interesting, but clearly our breakfast experience was sub par

Has anyone done breakfast at the Animal Kingdom Tusker House? Whats your opinions on it? Do you get any advantage at the park by getting the earliest breakfast?

It was a fun way to start the day at AK. I think the food is good and its just fun being in the park and a great way to start the day.
