Animal Kingdom TIPS: Plus EMH Night

I am planning my ONE day at the Animal Kingdom. I am going on a day with evening EMHs.

I am trying to figure out the best route to get to all my favorite attractions (animal rides/shows) during regular hours and regular rides at night.

What route do you usually take (order of rides and shows) during a regular day and or EMHs night?

Do Safari early, Kali if it's warm and then cover Dinosaur. Go for EE as available during the day and then ride it as much as you can during EMH. As the evening progresses the ride gets better and better and the lines get shorter and shorter! EE after dark is the best ride experience at Disney IMO!

Thanks. I have Safari down 1st.

Any suggestions for how to do the shows (mainly Lion King and Nemo).

Last year my family was at AK during evening EMH and the crowd level wasn't bad. I don't know if that was due to hurricane Fay or not. As MontyMon said the line for EE does get shorter as the evening goes on. The Dinoland rides were walk on and with the lights on it reminded me of a carnival atmosphere. I believe it is suggested to line up 45 minutes before the start time for the Nemo show. That's what we did and we were to the back of the line. The Safari ride is closed during EMH, if you want to ride again get in line just before regular hours end. I would do evening hours at AK again, the other parks I'm not sure?

Are you going alone? What I normally do is walk to the back of the park upon arrival...briefly taking in the animals in the oasis and near the Tree of Life. I usually grab a FP for Kilimanjaro Safaris and then grab a bite to eat...if you aren't eating and are interested in seeing Wonders of Flight, then see that while waiting for the FP return time. Of course, that all depends on your timing, show times, and KS wait time. After the Safari I always go through Pangani Forest Trail. All of this can be done within 90 minutes to two hours. Next head over to Asia and hop on Kali River Rapids...then dry off by exploring the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Next head over to Expedition Everest and get into the single rider line (or if not traveling alone, the regular line). Since Finding Nemo doesn't have many frequent showings, I might grab a FP for Dinosaur and head back to Finding Nemo, or I might have time to catch Dinosaur before heading to Finding Nemo. Just be wary of show times. Then go ahead over to the Tree of Life and It's Tough to Be a Bug...and spend time exploring the animals around there. Then you can catch Festival of the Lion King...which has many more showings a day than Nemo. Depending on crowd size, you can potentially have time to revisit some of these attractions...I ALWAYS ride the safari at least twice.

Depending on Crowd size, this can take up until 4pm (depending on show times and if you plan on skipping any of the above). I generally squeeze in Rafiki's Planet Watch after the Pagani Trail...there's not much there, but it is interesting to see the animal buildings and they have a monitor set-up where you can view inside the animal houses. Since you are going on a EMH day, you definitely won't need to rush. But don't spend time running from one side of the park to get a FP...it's too big and you waste time. Just enjoy each section at a time. As I said, Festival of the Lion King has showings practically every hour (check the show guides when you get there) so don't worry so much bout that one as much as Finding Nemo, which only has a few showings a day. You may want to concentrate more on the animal-based attractions during the day...since they will be closed for EMH. Animal Kingdom doesn't seem to be as popular as the other parks for EMH, so the crowds won't be any larger than normal on a busy day. Just take your time and enjoy!

Hi!

We first head to EE - grab a FP and then ride. We then hop over to Kilimanjaro Safari, then do the walk through Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and then hit EE again with our FP. We usually stop for lunch then at Yak and Yeti and then hit Maharajah Jungle Trek. We skip Kali b/c we don't want to get that wet and well...you always get that wet! We then hit Dinosaur and then watch Lion King. If the schedule is right - we'll see Nemo too. And then Bugs Life at the tree of life. We usually head back around 3 pm to the resort - skip the parade - but you could do the parade then. This time we are heading to AK Lodge for dinner at Boma and then back for EMH's. Ride EE again and Dinosaur again. Then depending on when which rides close when - we hit the ones we have missed. :sohappy:

Because I am going by myself - do you think I should still get a fastpass for EE or just get in the single rider line?
My boyfriend won't ride EE, so I rode 3 times (my fp, his fp, single rider line in between) in about 40 minutes, during spring break. It was awesome, and this would be a good way for you to get two rides in, but I think the single rider line was shorter.

I was just down there May 4-8 and the crowds were great. Granted the weather was above 90 degrees every day and maybe kept some at the pools or water parks. I would definitely do the safari 1st (coolest time of day and animals more active), do the single rider for everest because always shorter when I'm there. Not sure what you like or don't care to see. I've been at night and I love it when it gets dark, but at this time of year it's not too dark at those times. I did FOTLK at night before and not a real long line because most are leaving for dinner or can't do emh. See when nemo is playing, I wouldn't wait til midday because if hot out some may try to go to cool off. Never had a wait for Bug's Life. Kali River Rapids had no fastpasses that week and that was the longest line (about an hour?) Other than that see what is only open during the day and make sure you do those first. Have fun and enjoy AK is my favorite park! I'm jealous.
