Animal Kingdom tidbits

joe Rhodes would grab your neck for calling any of it a "zoo"...the environments they create and how they fit into the "amusement part" that being said you can see pretty much all the animals and ride all the rides in less than a day if it is the off season.

There's a theme park portion of Animal Kingdom, and simply a zoo portion as well. It's just fancier. o-o

AK has always been more then just the rides the problem today though is people think that is all a park should be.

AK is the best themed park around and if you love animals or have kids that love the interactions with animals this is a first rate experience. Not an every year one but for sure every other year if you go yearly.

Per the Disney Parks Blog, the Tamarins arrived in their new habitat today.

Inquiring minds want to know, how often do these Tamarins fling their poop at guests? Researchers have discovered a direct correlation between poop flinging primates and their level of intelligence: http://phys.org/news/2011-11-poop-throwing-chimps-intelligence.html

From personal experience I can tell you that those gorillas at AK must be geniuses!

They could work out a bypass from the gate in Dinoland near Restaurantosaurus to the gate next to the stroller rentals by the front entrance. They're only separated by 50 yards or so.

Yes, something like that would make sense as an overflow value as needed.

Here's the runDisney exit for a possible alternate.

That would be me! My local zoo has walking trails for 30 bucks. I'm not making my dad spend over 200 dollars to do the actual "zoo" part of Animal Kingdom! Half day here, half day at Hollywood Studios.. Perfect. :3

OK then think of it like this... $30 of your admission goes to those walking trails that you so despise. The remainder goes to the other attractions that your local zoo doesn't offer.

Fact is AK has enough in it to fill a complete day, provided you want to see it all. Because you dont want to or choose not to(which is your perrogative), it does not negate the fact that there is a complete days worth of activities there. We spend time observing the animals on all the trails... hell I can spend close to an hour in the aviaries trying to locate all the birds.

I don't disagree with your information. But my response will just come back to "I'm not much of a looking for animals that's easier to find at a local zoo person.." So the trails just aren't my favorite thing at all. I think they're boring. I'm glad you take the time to enjoy them and all, they're not for me.

If the trails were just plants and animals, then I'd agree with you. But the level of detail put into, say, the Maharajah Jungle Trek makes it far above what I'd find at my local zoo. In addition to stopping to take pictures of the animals, I was stopping every minute or so to take a picture of the decor, as they really made it look like a decaying Indian palace, slowly being reclaimed by the jungle.

Disney goes so far to make the animal enclosures realistic and natural for the guests and the animals. It really is NAHTAZU. I love the trails. They're a hidden treasure within the resort that not many realize they're missing.

If you're interested in other areas of Animal Kingdom undergoing changes....photos as of Saturday, Nov 8, 2014. Here are a couple of photos of the clearing near the Discovery Island entrance between Wilderness Explorers and Isle of Java. For now, vegetation has been cleared and you can see the backstage buildings more clearly.

Do you have any pictures of the new Africa Marketplace area that is being built?
