Animal Kingdom suggestions?

Three new lands would be nice...Australia (would fit in nicely between Africa and Asia) Beastly Kingdom (don't know where to put this...but around Dinoland/ Chester Hester..especially since E:E will be located around the area and the Yeti is kind of mythical)...and how about some ocean animals...some sharks...some whales...some dolphins....(the artic animal idea is great...but I would like to see some ocean animal life first).

Rides are important (they keep the whole nahtazu thing going)...but they're not as important as the animal exhibits...I think both can be blended quite nicely...the Saffaris is a great example....it would be nice to see some kind of REAL jungle cruise...with REAL animals...

It doesn't cost a thing to dream...so i'll keep dreaming...:animwink:

Now those are some great suggestions! Walt originally wanted Jungle Cruise to be with live animals. As far as the True Life films, great idea, but at Conservation Station there are I think 4 film areas about animals, a mermaid show, and Song of the Rainforest where you go into your own both, the lights dim and you listen to the rainforest, incredible audio I thought. However, once again the masses just run through that area and do nothing because they have been program to not desire such relaxing things.
I think we will see a lot more expansion in the coming years. The park is only five years old, give it time.

Build a nice Sit down Restaurant in Rafiki's Planet watch area.
Making it a Character meal with Rafiki and friends would be a plus.

This would bring people to Rafiki's Planet Watch and let them see all that this area has to offer.

Having said that...add MORE to this area...just having the Petting area and the one building just isn't enough in my opinion.

Great idea, Rafiki's planet watch does need more, it would take some time though because that area is actually squeezed in a smaller parcel of land, but with some work it could be done. But I wouldn't hold my breath just yet.

I think adding more rides is only a good idea to attract more customers. I worked in DAK for 5 months and I would go there on my days off just to look at the animals. Some people, however, aren't big fans of animals. Why they would go to ANIMAL Kingdom is beyond me. They say it's "nahtazu" because the animals aren't caged in like other parks.

I think the North America is great and I'm happy people liked my Arctic idea. The fish idea I don't care for. The idea itself is pretty good (I thought about that after I went to the aquarium at EPCOT) but I'm terrified of big fish  !

Perhaps there's more to the whole Nemo additions at TLS in Epcot...perhaps the real emphasis on sea life will come in the form of a new land at AK sometime down the road...or perhaps a new park...

Interesting observation...good catch.

Although i agree the name is Animal Kingdom, and the focus should be on animals- you have to have rides too. People don't travel across teh country and go to Disney World to go to a zoo- and pay $50 to get in at that.

Do you all think it might be cool if they built a small "pride-rock" (from Lion King) and under neath would be a nice restaruant or something? I think that'd be neat... and then have a meet and greet near the top/point where you could get your picture taken with characters while looking towards the Tree of Life..

Btw, this is my first post!! :sohappy:

Welcome, and great idea! Pride Rock would be an excellent addition to DAK with a resteraunt or a Scar's Lair scary dark ride maybe?
Just an idea.

....Another random idea..... there's talk of adding a Brother Bear attraction to Camp-Minnie-Mickey and something about Bambi..... basically just a North American theme. I was thinking they could play it safe and re-name, re-theme, and re-build the area and call it..... Critter Country!! I thinking it would be great... they could re-theme the little cabins to look like little homes of famous Disney critters (alot like Minnie and Mickey's houses at Toontown). Festival of the Lion King would of course stay there.... Pochahontas(sp?) would be replaced by.... well... just something... And then then could build a Bambi dark ride.... with a hidden message (like someone said) about not hunting or something like that. And then they could build an entrance to a cave on the side of the hill (it could be that cave where the Discovery Boats used to go by) and inside would be a large open.. bear exhibit. It could be themed with Brother Bear characters (like how Nemo is going into TLS). I also thought that somewhere around the entrance there could be animatronic moose (those two from the movie)..... anyway.... just wishing*

I like the idea of transplanting the concept of the Jungle Cruise to the Animal Kingdom with real animals. If you make the next section of the park, "South America", you could have a Jungle Cruise down the Amazon. The focus would be on the animals. Animals for the animal lovers, a boat ride for the people who want "a ride". The trick will be in arranging for the animals to be visible as people tour down "the river". But the Imagineers did a great job at figuring that out for the Kilimanjaro Safari, they can do so again I'm sure. Basically, this would parallel the Safari experience.

The big problem with my idea is it doesn't help the major complaint that I've noticed that people have with Animal Kingdom. "It's so HOT!" Somehow incorporate some attractions that provide a respite from that heat. I do realize as the park ages, the foliage will grow and provide more shade so that will definitely be a help.

Thanks for listening.

I think putting this Pride Rock Restaurant in Rafiki's Planet Watch would be a great idea. These tired kids and adults take the train all the way to a petting zoo? Kinda disappointing. I'm from the country where most of these animals are plentiful though, maybe someone from the city would really like llamas. The restaurant would have Rafiki and Timon wandering around. I can't think of any restaurants where you can see these characters (maybe the Swan).

I'm not sure why everyone is so in favor of these "Dark Rides". Are they like the Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh ride? I think they're cute but if you go on one you've gone on them all (I'm still bummed that Mr. Toad is gone). I would love to see some Bambi things going into DAK. What a great (and sad) movie that Disney barely mentions in any of the parks. I realize they can't have a Bambi costume but maybe some kind of show with animatronics or something. It would go in Camp Minnie-Mickey. Get rid of Pocahontas or make it much much better. I also think they should move Lion King to Africa where it would make more sense.

Get rid of Dinoland or make it more educational. I heard that before I worked there it actually taught kids a thing or two. When I became custodial I dreaded being put there. The music and atmosphere drills into your head. One thing I love about Animal Kingdom is that you learn things as you have fun. Why is the drive to get people into the park more important than teaching them. I know...$$$. Blah.

I also want them to change what's in the Tree of Life. The show is alright but I'm not a huge fan. As a matter of fact I'm not a huge fan of any of the things in the park icons ("Tough to Be a Bug", merchandise, merchandise, "Spaceship Earth"). I really can't think of any suggestion of what to put in place of the show but I think it needs something else. I also think it'd be kinda cool if they put lights on the Tree of Life during the holidays.

Let's see. Is there anything else I can suggest now? I can't think of anything but I'll keep it all in mind. I don't want you all to think I don't like the park with all of these suggestions. It's by far my favorite park, I just don't think it's perfect. Bye for now.

fact is, without rides, there would be no AK. rides bring the money and the people.

i agree, the park should center around animals, but it still needs that disney magic to seperate if from a great zoo. i would love to see some dark rides - i will be first to admit i LOVE coasters, but disney dark rides are wonderful to me, if done well.

i would love to see a Jungle Book dark ride through the jungles of India, or a Robin Hood log flume ride through all the scenes! DAK needs help. watch the attendance after E:E opens. it will go up dramatically! AK also needs something to keep people there longer. the parade was nice. i'll admit, before the parade, we had no reason to hang around until 3, we could ride every ride, see all the animals and leave before 3.

DAK needs something at night - i know there is debate over fireworks disturbing the animals, and i can agree with that - i had a point that our city zoo blasts off fireworks twice a year, - but that's only twice in one year... so - i'll scrap that - but - a nighttime show in an ampitheater near the front of the park, or just away from the animals, or even enclose it - something to rival fantasmic, something to hold people there. a staple for the park's entertainment - the FOLK is great, but it has had it's run as the best show there - leave it there - just bring in something new.

i think after E:E opens, and more visitors come, we will see new things happening around this beautiful park. one of my favorite things to do is stroll throught he walking treks, but i also know not many people enjoy this, they think "i'm at disney, where's the rides"

there are so many possibilities - animals. the options are endless. to have a true dino land, we need a dino safari. a dark ride, but not scary, just a safari like Jurassic Park's original idea (in the movie, not the attraction) we need to see AA dinosaurs in their natural habitat, doing dinosaur things.

this is one of my favorite parks, but it does need help. it needs more. the idea of more lands is great! make it very educational too! I would love to see North America, the Arctics and Australia(rescuers down under?)!

i would still love to see some rides based on Walt's love for making these animal movies,i.e, jungle book, robin hood, bambi, you know... ??? these don't have attractions at the other parks - bring them to AK - they will one day be considered classics like Peter Pan's Flight and Snow White's Scary Adventure -

also - there is Mighty Joe Young, which i thought was a GREAT movie, they could do a dark right like universal's old kong AA, and even better - near the Gorilla habitat?
