I have just came back from a short Disney trip in which me and my wife stayed at Animal Kingdom after dark for the first time. Two of the attractions we were looking forward to doing after dark were Everest and Safari, and it did not disappoint. (Sorry for the long post, and terrible story telling)
I'll start with Everest. We rode Everest a few times in a row in single rider since no one was in that line and only waited about 5 minutes each time. It was getting darker and we were wasting time until we got to ride it when it was completely dark outside. When the sun finally went down, it was time, something we were looking forward to do since Animal Kingdom had after dark hours, ride Everest at night. By this time there was no line and could just walk on. We asked for front row which we had to wait a couple minutes for but made the experience that much better. We finally got on the ride and it might have been the best Everest experience I have ever had. Feeling the cool night air and just the night time atmosphere added intensity to the ride. (Idk how to explain riding roller coasters at night, which in MY OPINION makes it better) Seeing AK with all the lights on while going up the longer chain lift was an awesome sight. Then when you get to the 'broken' track before you go backwards, another great sight to be seen only to be seen at night. (the EPCOT ball lit up in the distance as well as the Ferris Wheel in downtown Orlando) Overall a great experience and a must do.
Second was the safari. We did it earlier in the day and the CM talked about how some of the animals were more active at night, including the lion which is one of my favorite on the attraction. We get there and just like Everest, has no line. Me and my wife had the row to ourselves and didn't have to stuff in with another family like before. We go and it was about the same as daytime, except for the hippos were more a little more active than before. I was thinking the Safari after dark wasnt anything really different until... we got to the lions. We saw all of them walking around which was pretty cool and then 2 of the female lions came across each other and started play fighting. They swatted at one another a couple times then got on their hind legs to start swatting which was pretty awesome to see. Just as it got interesting the vehicle we were in turned the corner. They were just play fighting but it was awesome to see. (thanks for making it this far with my terrible writing)
