We have stayed there twice. Once in 2014 and once this past November (stayed at the Kilimanjaro club level). We absolutely love this resort. It is stunningly gorgeous, has excellent dining options, and a savannah view is worth every penny. The Mara for quick service is nice and exceptionally convenient.

We would definitely stay again, right @awheartsdw ?

We have stayed at AKL only once (we are MK lovers so we typically choose to stay closer to MK) and have visited just to explore and to dine at Boma many, many times. It is an absolutely gorgeous, captivating, and calming resort. Watching the animals roam and graze right at your own resort is such a cool and unique experience.

We didn't go into the pool as it was too cool out when we visited but I've heard great things about the pool experience there and it looks super fun and nice at the pool.

Boma is just awesome with delicious food options, welcoming staff, and a fun environment. Also we LOVED the quick service at The Mara. They always had plenty of variety and the food was great quality.
Never been to Jiko personally but have always heard good things.

Have a great stay!

You'll find lots of great reviews and comments about this resort. We've stayed several times and can't wait to go back. The theming is amazing, the CM's are wonderful, and the restaurants are top notch, including The Mara. And the Savannah is worth the trip alone. I've always found this resort to be under priced, which makes it a great deal. I think the only complaint I see is that some of the bus rides to the parks can be longer that most other resorts, but honestly, for what you get at this incredible resort, it's totally worth a little longer bus ride. Depending on capacity at the resort, you sometimes may get upgraded to a Savanah View room. It's happened to me twice. Never hurts to ask! Enjoy your stay!

My favorite resort.
The Mara (quick service) is really good. Lots of seating (for a Deluxe) and good options. It's right by the pool, too.
The resort is incredible and so unique.
The pool is gorgeous and there are lots of chairs all over, but they do tend to fill up as at all the resorts :/
I highly recommend AKL to anyone and everyone.

We have stayed there this past July and LOVED it! My husband doesn't want to stay anywhere else. It's beautiful, the quick service is nice, we just wished we had someone to let us know how it worked, what the different lines were for, since we had never stayed there before and it was new to us. Not a big deal though, we figured it out eventually :D.

We have been there 3 times. Each with different rooms all in Jambo House. Our first stay shortly after it opened we were put in what was being converted to a honeymoon room. It was on the first floor (one above ground). It was just to the left of Arusha rock. The views and animal life could not have been better. At that time giraffes could almost get right up to the balcony. Our second stay was in a "savannah" view room. We knew it wasn't what we had before, but it was far worse than expected. We faced towards the Sunset Overlook. They had an ankole cattle there, a rare sighting of an ostrich, and if you happen to be there when they herded giraffes that way, but that was usually park time. Definitely not worth it. The last stay was at a "garden view" or preferred view. This was much better and overlooked the pool. Unless you are paying the premium to be on the best savannah views, going cheaper view is better in my opinion.

The resort itself is amazing. My favorite of all resorts. The only thing lacking is the pool for a Deluxe. It is nice, but it should be so much nicer. It has zero entry, a slide, and a pool bar. The one thing about the common areas inside is that it is a little darker. Not horribly, but definitely noticeable. The smell from the fireplace radiates everywhere. You have multiple places to eat. QS at Mara is very good. Boma is great. Never been to Sanaa. Don't forget to meet King Pin if he is still there.

Never again, we stayed there this past Thanksgiving for the first and last time. The lodge is beautiful and I loved being able to walk out on the balcony and all the animals be right there, but our first night was horrible. When we got there our room was not ready, which was no big deal since we got there around noon and it was way before check in time. We went on to Epcot and went on with our fast pass and dining ADR, well when we get back to our room tired and exhausted there is a message on the phone that the electricity is going off, we had medications that needed to be taken but we could not get any drinks because the Mara closed early and the soda machines would not work without electricity. The only choice was nasty bathroom water,(which the medication was not to be taken with water) and it made me quite sick at my stomach. We had to shower in the dark by the light of cell phones, then we spent the night in a hot room. When we complained they just brushed us of and did not really care. When you pay that much a night for a room you at least expect electricity, and to be able to see to shower.
