Can anyone who has been to the animal kingdom lodge, let me know what their pros and cons were during their stay. I am going back to Disney in December and booked a stay there for 9 days and nights.

We just stayed for 8 nights and it might have supplemented Wilderness Lodge as our favorite.

We really had a great time, and in fact, we bought into DVC on the trip.

Location isn't the best, but is livable and everything else about the resort we really enjoyed including the lobby, the pool, the restaurants, and of course the animals!

Nice list

I would add on Con

Only a bus system and can be a long ride to get to other parks.

Also, I'm not sure how this new DVC is going to act with crowds, noises and removal of many of the Savannah Deluxe views for DVC members.

The little green guy is right, but there is another con to add:

Its way out of the way. It doesn't take THAT long to get to places, but the trips to parks other than AK can take a while. Especially MK.

Edit: Computer Magic kind of beat me to it.

I really like AKL. My family stayed there before and I think i liked it the best. The only draw back was our room was pretty far from the lobby, so after a long at the park, it was rough to walk so far to our room. But, we had a great view of the savanna.
Boma for a buffet restaurant was fantastic! We have yet to try Jiko's. We would stay there again, but it is not at teh top of the list.

I've never stayed at AKL yet (we're there for Christmas 2008). However, a couple of minor cons I've discovered from "the net" -

1) Remoteness - the bus rides to the other resorts.
2) Construction noise - AKL is under going construction for the DVC villas (it should be kept to a minimum and un-obtrusive)

The construction is the reason why we're staying at Wilderness Lodge on our upcoming trip and not AKL, which is our absolute favorite. But you can bet we'll be back once construction is finished.

So many people have listed the pros, so I'll add some of my favorite personal experiences from there to supplement.

- Waking up in the morning to see a giraffe and three zebras literally 30 feet from the balcony

- Reading on the balcony in the middle of the day and hearing only the breeze and the footsteps of animals moving across the savannah.

- Sitting alone in a rocking chair at one of the public overlooks and drinking my coffee in the morning

- Having a drink next to the lobby fire pit in the evening

- Dining at Jiko
