Animal Encounter!

I know no one wants to hear this but we saw a rat running along the path next to the waterway at POFQ, he then darted to the right towards the bushes near the pool!
This was late around 1am...You always want to think that WDW has no vermin problems...but you cant get them all...now I guess they could just say its part of the Ratatouille promotion.

Don't bash the other places, Gators are just about EVERYWHERE here in Florida. When we have our dry months (Jan - Late April) the Gators go looking for water because most low lying bodies of water dry up. They see water, they go to it. If there happens to be a real body of water near by, they have easy access into just about everywhere!

When I was working up in Gainesville (Home of the lucky but terrible UF Gators), we did countless stories about gators who would wind up in the dorm hallways, stadiums, sidewalks, basically, they are and can be anywhere.

Also, while heading to the Bar at the Wilderness Lodge, we saw a family of deer last September, pretty cool that they were out walking around at 5 pm.

Umm it was a joke.....

I saw a black snake in the smoking area behind some shop in Dino-land USA.
Apparently, according to the snake girl at AK, it was probably a black racer.
When it realized me and my ex-gf saw it, it decided it didnt want to be there any more, and raced off.

At EPCOT Food & Wine Festival I saw a squirrel running down the path between the countries carrying a bunch of grapes.

So they love the F&W fest as much as we do!

My DS age 10 took a great picture of a gator in the water at AK in April, there were also turtles swimming around.

There are also tons of birds (egrets, ibis) etc at AK that mooch off the park (and visitors). watch out if you eat outside at Flame Tree....they can get darn pushy about begging/stealing food!

One year while we were leaving BB, a CM had asked us to stay where we were for a moment. A six foot long snake was taking a strole across the walkway. I knew it was poisonous because we had to stay at least 15 feet away. The CM made sure that no one came by either way till it was out of sight.

Did you really know???? Although possible I highly doubt it...... and the CM was probably just making sure no one meesed with the snake.

I doubt that it was venomous as out of the four venomous species of snakes that are native to Florida, only the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake would come close to being this size, it rarely reaches 6 feet long.

More then likely just a CM that is afraid of snakes.!

Well seince we had the disney lakes thread and about gators and stuff this was inspired by that.

Have u ever had an animal encounter in the parks with a animal thats not supposed to be there?

One trip there was a gator living in the "moat" around the beach club..In additon to the three types of turtles living in there with the giant Gouramis too.

We saw a large rat snake on our way walking to Epcot and incidentally we stayed in Epcot after illuminations and saw a rat! (now i know where the snake was going)

I have seen a small deer (Key deer??) over near the boardwalk at the boardwalk.

and in all my trips there i have only seen 1 palmetto bug; already dead. THANK GOD!

We were in the lazy river at Blizzard Beach riding the tubes when a snake swam underneath my butt. I panicked and i couldn't get out of my tube but the snake just kept on swimming and then a man threw it out of the lazy river.

As for the relocation of the snake at WL- the CM said it was mating season and they tended to wander into the more public areas and they would move it to a different area. It was rather long- at least 3 feet. (Of course my fear could have made it seem longer...... )

Cat at Pooh's Playful Spot - Jan. 2007
We were at the Pirate and Princess Party and it was really empty in this area of Fantasyland - between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. I knew that it was WAY past my bedtime at this point, but when I saw the cat run across into Pooh's Playful Spot, I thought to myself - "Did I just see that?"
We wandered over there and lo and behold...it was a cat!

Once I saw a cat during the Jungle Cruise. I believe it was in the pygmy (sp?) scene. It was funny, everyone saw the cat right before the skipper said "and something must have scared them away" (when referring to why there was no pygmy welcoming party).
