Her first movie (I think) gaslight us spectacular
It may be hard for some to remember how utterly stunning that ballroom scene was back in 1991. But, yea, it was breathtaking. She had an amazing career. Stage, screen…a lot of Disney contributions.
For me, I know that the little mermaid…part of your world…is credited as starting the “Disney animation renaissance”…
…but for me it was the ballroom scene in BATB. It showed what they could do with the art…and her voice was the driver. It was eye opening.
I see the light was the next “benchmark” into Disney animation. That claim is now falsely given to Frozen.
They “broke the mold” with her…won’t be another like her.
Blew my mind when I first saw it. Still moves me to this day.It may be hard for some to remember how utterly stunning that ballroom scene was back in 1991. But, yea, it was breathtaking.
It really changed the “look” of animation with the computer compositing/editing. Little mermaid looked more “hand drawn”. That was the CAPS machine (I believe Lucas built?) at full work. It lead directly to a whole new world - literally and figuratively. It may be hard for some to remember how utterly stunning that ballroom scene was back in 1991. But, yea, it was breathtaking.

The lantern scene in Tangled is the same. A game changer.
Neither work without the composer and the voice.
Right…old StevePost spinoff Pixar built CAPS for Feature Animation.
That would require someone in Burbank or Springs to care….They should bring back Once Upon A Time at MK to pay tribute to her talent as the shows about Mrs potts.
…Something There is such an underrated Disney songI had the immense privilege to see her perform in Blithe Spirit at the Gielgud Theatre in London in 2014. She was 88 years young, sprightly and energetic. She had the audience in the palm of her hand from curtain up to curtain down! A consummate performer and, by all accounts, a class act.
This is featured in the Howard Ashman documentary on Disney+, but I think it's worth sharing: Lansbury and (another indelible Broadway legend) Jerry Orbach recording 'Be Our Guest' with the NY Philharmonic. Now back to my Murder, She Wrote marathon.
