Trip Report And When it's Time to Find Home. We know the Way!! Aue Aue

Good Morning all my Disney loving friends! We just hit the road and our first destination is Charlotte, NC. However, before I get ahead of myself, it is our normal crew, myself, Deighton (I turn the big 5 0 this year), Den my husband and our 3 kids. Hunter who is 20 and is now bartending... Camden 13 still an avid lacrosse player and fisherman and the youngest Brinley, 9 for now but on August 10 she will turn 10 in Disney World.

Here is a brief schedule of the next 2 weeks. As I stated earlier we will arriving in Charlotte, NC around 4 pm today. We have reservations at a southern BBQ restaurant (let the feeding frenzy begin). Tomorrow, we leave early to get to Savannah Georgia as soon as possible. We have a lot that we want to do here but the weather is not showing that it is going to cooperate. Hopefully the weather man is as wrong in Savannah as they are in
Pittsburgh!

After a night in Savannah, we are headed to Disney Springs for 2 days. We have reservations in Disney Springs and this is when we will do some resort hopping. Then it is home to The Boardwalk for 9 nights with a seven day hopper. Then back to Charlotte to meet up with my brother and his family. Then sadly home and back to the grind! I will post more details shortly!

Thanks for following and thanks to all of you who take the time to do Trip Reports! You have no idea how much it keeps me going💞

Ok! Enough about food! Although, you know I could go on forever...

Let's get to the parks, rides and all things included, but up first I have a question for all my Disney loving friends 🧡
200.gif

For the first time, on any of our Disney adventure, the wait times were WAY off!! Whatever wait time was posted it was at least half as much longer. This happened on several occasions! Did anyone else find this to be true over the summer?

For example, the first time we rode Tron the wait posted was 60 minutes which was the shortest we had seen without rope drop so we jumped in line. I asked the CM with a sign if that was accurate. She said, it was! Then after waiting an hour in the heat and still slowly 🐌 moving. There was another sign that said, an hour from this point! I will be honest and say, it was very frustrating. I was ready to leave the line but Brin already had her heart set on it, so I brought the smile back and we waited 105 minutes!! I do believe that is a record for the longest I have ever waited for a ride, especially one that takes 45 seconds! It is a blast, I have to admit!!

I understand things break and I am not complaining. I am just curious, if anyone else has noticed this lately?? I, also, think it was busier than usual for the first weeks in August compared to the first few weeks in July when it had significantly lower crowd levels!

I found wait times to be a mixed bag - either under or over but rarely corresponding to what was posted.

I’ve never been in July but now have been twice post-Covid in August and this time seemed less crowded than the other time (to be fair however, that time I ended up spending a lot of time on my own because it was either that or staying in the room with a grumpy teen).

Boy do I understand a grumpy teen. The boys both enjoyed chilling in the room at night!! You can do that at home!! I appreciate your input because I was really surprised after many trips. Last trip, posted wait times were always shorter.

I hate to bring it up … but I think so far you’ve only dealt with grumpy boy teen. Grumpy girl teen is a whole other ballgame 😉🤭🤣

(But my girl teen left teenager-hood a week ago).

Tuesday August 5. Typhoon Lagoon Day or should I call it "My Skin is Resilient to the Sun" day???....

We were up at 7 and packing after 2 nights at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista. Next packing up the Michael family truckster and finally heading home to The Boardwalk! I wish I had a picture of the highlander all decked out with roof rack and hitch cargo carrier on the trunk with the "big cooler". 🤣

Room was not ready but we were not upset and certainly not surprised. We unloaded with the wonderful bell hop service and called an Uber to pick us up! (Sorry this day will be wordy. Cellphones were in lockers.)

I can not say what a great 5 hours we had at Typhoon Lagoon!

It would have been perfect if it were not for 2 young men who would not listen to mama or father. Cam did put sunscreen on about 2 hours into the day, when I made him, which saved him days of being terribly uncomfortable. Instead, he was hurting for about 48 hours but could still keep doing things except carry a backpack...

The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is ridiculously fun!! We all had the best time in there laughing, rolling around after the 6 foot wave crashed through us. We had to hold on to Brin or she would roll all the way back to shore which she didn't like! We spent an hour and half in here before moving on. Honestly, I could have stayed in there all day! We expected to go back in later but it was packed!! A word to the wise, get in there at opening. Also, not to self, I need to get an under water camera or water proof cell phone cover. However, those smiles and laughs are embedded in my brain!

First stop, Miss Adventure Falls. This is where a family of 5 has it's disadvantages being split up. It can be some times uncomfortable sharing space with a stranger on Test Track or Tiana's but in a swim suit??

Also, I have enjoyed many of your stories getting on and off inner tubes at the water parks. Finally, I just started plunging off of them, to save the turtle like embarrassment I kept experiencing.

Next up, Crush n Gusher... all 3 rides were a riot. That's right 3 for 1, 3 different 400 ft long tube slides. My favorite in order 1) Banana Blaster, 2) Coconut Crusher and 3) Pineapple Plunger. We all took turns riding with each other. Brin's giggle is so contagious. (Hunter turning pink at this point wouldn't come back with me when I was reapplying sunscreen).

This is the point that we went our separate ways. The boys off to do the plummet slides and Den, Brin and I off to do some more tubing.

We did Mayday Falls and Gangplank Falls. Then we were thirsty!! Thank heavens Den had a magic band on and it worked. We sucked down 15 dollars worth of water lickety split!

This is when it was time to chill. Den and I floated around Cast Away Creek twice while Brin swam around us. She even spent some time with a little girl and they had so much fun together. Awe to be young again! Everything was so much easier and innocent. Well as luck would have it, they had the same first name and sounded like 2 valley girls when they found out!
Kristen Wiig Snl GIF by Saturday Night Live

I can't tell you how often I go back in my head to Den and I just relaxing and doing nothing!! I had not been so relaxed in a very long time! Sadly, Brin's stomach started rumbling so it was time to feed the beast. No sign of the boys...

20250805_133912.jpg

Brin and Den both had chicken fingers and I had the seafood combo. It was ok. Just a lot of fried food that I am not a fan of normally. I should have known better.
20250805_134340.jpg

What seemed like forever, we finally heard from the boys and they came for chicken tenders, as well

We went back to get in the wave pool but way too packed so we headed out!

Brin's hair, still cracks me up in this picture. Everyone had a great day at Typhoon Lagoon! Time for room ready at The Boardwalk or so we thought so...

Aug. 5 cont...

We got back to The Boardwalk around 3 and we actually walked in with our instacart order! Lol. I went up to the desk to enquire. I had little hope as I had received nothing on my phone and they still had an hour.

After being on the go all day, no one wanted to do anything especially sense the effects of the sun were setting in. We sunk into the couches for an hour and everyone just chilled.
20250805_154001.jpg

That was my vantage point from where I was sitting and no I wasn't moving to get a good picture. 🙃

4 pm came and I went back up to talk to a wonderful CM who gave us some option. Some options would have us waiting longer. Instead, I took the one they had available it was first floor pool view.
20250805_161509.jpg

It is the only pool picture I have of the trip because Den and I were never in it. Any pictures I have from the trip are from Hunter's phone.

I won't send room pictures again but I loved the new decor. It felt so Disney everywhere you looked. I want this lamp!

We were really home for 9 nights!!
