Well considering the fact that all the other animated films that were released last year were really bad it was basically a shoe-in for Incredibles.

It's sad though that the last traditionally animated film (not including TV adaptations or cheapquels) was not considered at all...

Oh come on it wasn't that bad (coming from someone who enjoyed Atlantis and Dinosaur). It only seemed bad from the fact that it was the last 2-D animated film and was just was not the way for the medium to go out.

The winner was good enough to acknowledge the Disney marketing team after the Pixar Studios. Marketing. Here's hoping Disney Animation can someday return to its past successes

and

congratulations to The Incredibles! Great win!

Am I the only who thinks the Oscar ceremony wasn´t as enjoyable as on previous years? The stage was great, but I didn´t like having people not getting on the stage to receive their awards and having the presentators on the aisle. I don´t know, I just think that going on the stage to receive the award is part of the fun of that night...

I missed two persons this year:
1.- Billy Crystal (sp?) - I didn´t like Chris Rock at all. Billy is waaaay more creative, polyfacetic and funny.

2.- Joan Rivers!! - what was E! thinking when they decided to put Star Jones whatever her name is on her place??? I missed knowing what and who people were wearing! This new woman kept talking very slowly and asking things we really didn´t want to know and that I´m sure actors and actresses were tired of answering! (are you excited to be here? how do you feel? duh!) Besides, I kept seeing her fat arm and back instead of the actors and actresses faces because she covered half of the screen in the position she was. They should have put the camera in another angle. Shame on E! The award ceremonies are simply not the same without Joan Rivers - I know she is not liked by many, but you gotta admit there is noone else to give the fashion scoop like she does. ;)

I agree. It wasn't as enjoyable. I have never liked Chris Rock. He made me laugh a couple of times, but I missed Billy Crystal :( They did the presenting differently to save time from people kissing their spouses, agents, neighbors, lawyers, etc. I thought the awards were very predictable and actually got more of a kick out of watching Johnny Depp :slurp: and Kate Winslet who were both just adorable :D

Oh yeah of course I thought Robin Williams was hilarious, but when isn't he? I think he should host one year, but he'd be way more dangerous than Chris

Robin Williams was the funniest one on stage! He should host the ceremony, I agree.
Hillary Swank was funny when she thanked her husband first, after forgetting him last time - lol. Her dress was ugly though... who was she wearing? lol

Isn't Joan Rivers doing awards show coverage on the TV Guide channel now? ...but still it isn't the same as when she was on E!....

The stage looked amazing though. best stage ever....

The show was less entertaining this year...not as glitzy and showy as when Billy (his openings are an attraction all their own) or Whoopi (those costumes!!!!....maybe they didn't choose her since the movies were less costume-y this year) were the hosts.

Don't get me wrong though, i liked Chris Rock...funny stuff.

I think the reason Home on The Range is so looked down upon is that not only is it the end of traditional animation but that it had to be the end and be so anti-climactic as in not as epic and grandiose as a Beauty and the Beast or even a Pocahontas or Mulan or Lion King. Brother Bear would have been a more respectable ending to Disney's traditional animation dynasty.

hopefully the next CEO would have some sense and return the company to its roots. Eisner has been against traditional animation even during the days of the renaissance.

...back to the show, something was missing...ah yes the big "Best Actress" acceptance speech breakdown was missing...can't wait 'till Meryll Streep gets another one did you see her "sometimes even i think I'm all hype" speech back in the Emmy's?

darn that stage looked great the screens were amazing...

Yes, that pretty much signs the death certificate for 2-D animation.

No, I don't think so... I hope someday they make the same story in CG and it flops. Just to show that all is needed is a proper story!

The animation award was the only one I really cared about this year. I was very happy for Brad Bird. After reading the article in Disney magazine a while back about the making of The Incredibles, I have a lot of respect for his ability not only to create an entertaining story, but to see it through to completion. Congrats on a job well done.

I liked Chris Rock as host. That taped bit he did where interviewed people about what movies they had seen was hysterical.
