And I Think to Myself....What a Wonderful World with Magic Friends

Yes...awesome. For the most part...but also very scary. I'd be the first person in my family to really ever leave the Midwest. Big change for the family. But they all say they want to move down there, this just gets down there faster.

And of course you can ask. :) We're moving because we both have wanted to move to Florida at some point in our lives...and we'd rather do it before we have kids. So, now would be the perfect time. WHF's boss's boss has been looking for a job for him, and he has quite a few hotels in Florida. He wants to do some major restructuring at his hotels and he wants to bring WHF down there to help with the restructuring.

So, we have no idea when it's going to happen, just that it more than likely will happen and will happen by the end of the year.
Oh wow! How exciting! And I admire you guys for just going for it! You're so right, what better time than now!

Hey... random question... does WHF's job give him any deals for Moscow hotels...?:lookaroun You would faint if you knew how much hotels are there for the night.

Guys,
I just wanted to say thanks for praying for my family, and please keep the prayers coming. But I just wanted to tell you'll what the situation boiled down to. My niece under some rather horrific circumstances has been placed in the temporay, full custody of my brother until she is 18. Our family did always want her to live with my brother, but not like this. It's very, very sad and the situation through which my family is now going through is not something I would wish upon my worst enemy.

But thanks for being here!
I'm so sorry to hear that Christa. They remain in my thoughts. {{hugs}} to you though. We're here for support.

Nada from them. They said if I don't get a response from them by April 30th, to contact them. But I'm getting VERY impatient. I might talk to them shortly...
Goodness! It would be hard to stay patient! Thinking good thoughts about it for you and saying a prayer!

Can I get your opinions on something...? So, long story, but everyone pretty much knows about what we've been up to--which is good. DH talked about on Sunday. People have been great. But of course with all this that's been going on in the news, people are probably more interested than normal. Well, we have a reporter that attends our church and he wants to do a story on us and our process. Before I share what I'm thinking, what are your first thoughts on that?

Good, I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well! Aside from the family stuff, I'm ok kinda in a funk I mean I had decided I wanted to the real estate thing and then my boss went away and I couldn't take the class so I had gone back to thinking about getting my masters in archival sciences, but then they've announced that the state of Florida is only setting up museums with enough salary for one archivist so there goes that. It's just everything I seem to try I get these road blocks...

((Hugs)) Christa. I always thought I'd like to work in art restoration/preservation, but I have no idea what kind of educational background I would need.

Ummm, I'm not sure really. I can only speak for myself - I'm a really private person, so I don't know how comfortable I would be talking about it. But you know this individual and I don't; as long as he would just focus on the human interest side of it, and not be exploitive, it could be a good thing. What is your thought?

Thanks Kat, that means alot to me. I don't know if I would do the story might make people think you're doing it not because you so desperatly want a child, but because you want the attention which is of course not the case, but people think those kind of things these days...

Your masters, and of course you'd have to have experience but how do you get any experience when you can't get a job!:brick:

I wouldn't normally agree. However, the fact that this woman did what she did and has not yet had charges brought against her does not bode well for those waiting parents. I could see how Russia could interpret it as the US not taking this case seriously. There is also a lot of misinformation that has been reported in the media, such as the child not "really" being hers or not being a US citizen, which I would love to clear up. So I just don't know. With DH having the position that he has, I think people would give him the benefit of the doubt, but you never know...

I think that would be my hangup - most media outlets aren't concerned with the truth, just the 'story' - I'm not saying this reporter friend would be like that, but his editor might be.... Sorry, I'm probably not helping...:o

Yes. I'm torn between standing up and being an advocate and playing it safe to protect me and DH.

I vote protect you and especially your future kid. The kid comes first in my mind, and I don't know if this isn't going to come back and haunt you guys once your baby is home. People are sick sometimes, and you really have to be careful.

Unfortunately, that's all too true. :( Hi, btw. Thanks for the encouragement you gave me on FB. Everyone's support always means so much to me.

Well, see and I would be being an advocate so that I can still GET our children. If things remain the same and nothing is done, they very well may discontinue adoptions with our country.
But I totally understand what you're saying. If it was a story just for story's sake, I wouldn't do it. However, there is a chance that our opportunity to get our children from this country may be taken away. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn't happen.

I can see your point too. I'm sure whatever you and Derek decide will be okay.

Spring break didn't provide the relief for Joel that I'd hoped. His efforts in school still are nil. And now he has gone back to printing in all caps vs. proper upper-lower case when writing. He's going backwards, not forwards in his schoolwork. :(

Definitely a lot to think about. If the woman didn't act so ignorantly this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion. I just hope and pray she doesn't end up "spoiling it" for the rest of us waiting parents.

I'm sorry Jenn. Could it be possible that after a week or so back in school that he'd get back to where he was? {{hugs}} for you and the little guy. That's got to be tough. :( Will he attend summer school?

She was ignorant and very selfish. What if this had been her biological child - would she have just returned him to the hospital??? No! So why should an adopted child be treated differently? Get him help if he has problems, get him counseling. That's called PARENTING.

His IEP is in 3 weeks, and extended school is a must. However, the district's max hours they give him in the summer is 6 - he could easily use double that amount. So I want to go in and talk to his speech teacher before the end of the year and get her help creating a visual summer schedule for him - she has the software program to create the picture cards. I'm thinking at least 1 hour a day, possibly two will be needed to work on his handwriting, reading, and math. And I'll be the teacher. :o

Any thoughts on that yet?

I've been looking at a few places. And I may have a couple of roomates in mind.

It may be hard to organize with everyone's busy schedules, but sometime we need to have a Magic Friends meet up at the World.

APPROVE!!

Hey, all! Yes, I'm still alive down here in WDW. Just dealing with the spring break craziness we had at GMR. But now it's over with and it's getting back to normal (well, as normal as it can be at GMR.:p) Anyway, I'm very excited that Jo is becoming a permanent member of the GMR family.

Thanks girlie! :)
