well up until this trip..
I have been going to WDW since it opened. but I have learned early in life, that your idea of a vacation, and someone else's idea of a vacation are two totally different things..
last week during our visit.. we met two different families.. both of whom were on the dining plan.. which is great for some people.. BUT their whole trip was wrapped around when their reservations were at various places..
and neither of them had seen all the rides..
later in a different venue I heard a third family say.. No we can't go on that ride, its a 20 minute wait..
well that eliminates a ton of rides..
I watch tons of high school kids roaming the parks.. just being kids.. but none of them were on any of the rides.. .just being good, but goofy kids..
We buy the book ( the unofficial guide) and try to follow the plans..
because of this we rode every thing we wanted and then some .. Kilimanjaro twice.. Haunted Mansion twice.. Kali rapids 4 times in a row.. TOY STORY.. five times.. Pirates twice.. now those are big rides.. GMR four times..
but our emphasis is on the rides and not eating... and we look like the last type of people for that emphasis.. but that's what WE WANT out of the parks.. to see IT ALL..
I had a regret in life that I didn't take my niece and nephew to Disney with us..
but later learned, that my brother in law, who was extremely tight when it came for spending on his own family, told his kids, that " You wouldn't like it"..
and that's their attitude to this day.. that THEY WOULDN'T LIKE DISNEY.. even though HE HAD NEVER BEEN THERE.. and they have never been there..
even on this trip.. my own kids want to shop.. well WE DON'T.. so it was great for my wife and I to keep on going.. because our kids weren't with us..
it was like being in one mind but with your best friend..
I think the worlds biggest mistake is that you try to put your idea of vacation in someone' else's world..
