Trip Report An Anniversary/Birthday Trip to Remember, December 2024

We're back!! And there were many memorable things about our trip, some fantastic and some not so great things, but overall a wonderful trip!

Quick overview:
Who: me (Amy) and my husband, Brian
Why: we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and 50th birthdays, just 1 year late!
Where: Caribbean Beach Resort, Jamaica building 42
When: December 6-11, 2024

We had a later flight out of Columbus, so left our house about 3pm and made it in plenty of time for Brian to nap before we had to board!

We were scheduled to depart at 5:45, so got to see the sunset from the ground and the air.

I was unlucky enough to have a young child behind me that kicked my chair the entire 2 hour flight until about 10 minutes before we started our descent. We asked nicely and the flight attendant asked nicely and the mom continued to sleep with her earbuds in, so in addition to the kicking, we got to constantly hear "mom, mom"! Longest two hour flight ever!

I was worried about having to check a bag, but it made it MCO with us and in good condition, so that was a relief! Our driver met us and we were soon on our way and seeing these:

We got our room ready text while on the way. We were booked into a water/pool view 5th sleeper since that was all that available using the Bounceback offer for our dates. I had requested Jamaica and that our water view be of Barefoot Bay and not a pool. I also requested to be near the Skyliner. Yay, all of my requests were granted!!

Brian ordered the Blurrgfire with the Grinning Loth-cat mug and he wanted the mug that comes with the Yub Nub because it was in blue this time instead of the tan last time. I wasn't planning on getting alcohol, but I took one for the team and got it so he could have his mug! We also ordered the Umbaran Cheese Roll (spice dusted pretzel bun stuffed with herbed cheese and a dipping sauce) and the Thruster Roasted Bantha Flatbread (naan flatbread topped with spiced chorizo beef and a four cheese blend).

This was ok. I would have preferred to have the cheese separate from the roll so I could control how much I had on each bite because the amount of cheese was just too much by the end, but we really enjoyed the flavors.

This doesn't look so pretty, but it was soooo delicious!! I could have easily had one by myself and called it lunch! After we left, we saw a few reviews where people said theirs weren't cooked appropriately and the texture was off, but ours was cooked to perfection! 100% would order this again!

We settled up, got our mugs in the boxes, my stack of coasters, and it was time to head out of the park for awhile to do some more Christmas decoration hunting! I, of course, had to stop for lots of pics on the way out. We also did some shopping.

Was this tree outside the park in the past? Seth and I noticed they no longer had a large tree at the entrance like they used to.
And I just LOVE all of the vintage decorations in HS! I can remember some of those items in my Grandma's house at Christmas time and used to have some myself. :)
Yes, the tree used to be outside the main entrance.

It was moved into the park at Echo Lake in 2017.

@Tuvalu beat me to it, but yes, it used to be outside of the park. I just looked at some of my pictures and our 2013 trip for my 40th birthday had it outside the park, but then I stopped looking to see if our 20th anniversary trip had it inside or outside. That would have been 2018, so would have been inside and we didn't see it because the only time we went in a park was MVMCP. And I also LOVE the decorations at DHS!
