Two men have filed a lawsuit against Universal Studios Hollywood after they were not allowed to ride Revenge of the Mummy as a result of being amputees. Angel Castelan (his forearms were amputated after a childhood electrical accident) and Marvin Huezo (his legs were amputated after a car accident) argue being kept off the ride violates their rights protected in the Americans with Disabilities Act. The suit, outlined in the Los Angeles Times, claims Castelan had ridden Revenge of the Mummy on previous visits but in late 2010, he was not allowed to ride because he didn't have hands to grip the safety bars. Castelan then visited the park again in 2011 with Huezo and attempted once again to ride the coaster. This time, both men were denied boarding and were told a "new policy requires that all rides have at least one hand and one leg." According to the Times, the men are seeking unspecified damages and also "asks a judge to order the park to change its policies regarding access to the roller coaster."

I can't believe they are suing. I bet if these guys were hurt they would be suing as well. It really is a no win situation it appears.

I understand they were allowed to ride before but if one person's judgement was lapsed and they were let through it doesn't mean there aren't rules. I don't believe ADA has anything to do with this because every roller coaster has safety rules and every roller coaster would have to be shut down if that was the case.

So Universal is suppose to allow these people to ride knowing they are amputees, then in their eyes they could be liable. " I lost my arm on RoTm, no seriously.. it fell off...." - Why didn't these people just wear a longs sleeve shirt?
