The attraction will stay open at least until this season of AI ends. Lookout for new prizes to be given to selected winners of the attraction.

New attraction is already planned for the AI building.

Yeah I think we all realize this. Now if you want to prove yourself as an insider ( pretty much anyone who uses the word "insider" in their username is a guarantee they aren't one ) tell us what is apparently coming and if your right, we'll believe everything else you have to say. Until then, I'll wait for confirmation from someone who has some clout around here.

Is it just the American Idol building that is being used for this new attraction?

How long was it there - 2, 3 years?

Good riddance to anything to do with that show.

Yeah, it's time. It was an epic failure--unfortunate, because I actually enjoyed the attraction (and I do not watch American Idol). However, they overestimated the excitement guests would have toward actually trying out for the attraction. Most people either don't have the guts to try out (me) or don't want to potentially give up an entire day of their vacation for this (my wife--especially true given that we usually park hop and often have dining reservations that we don't want to miss).

Heard about that too. Have a pal down in Florida does a lot of work around there. He had heard something similar.

I think you're pushing the boulder uphill trying to get anything else.....

Basically it comes down to what can go into that space, and that's what I'm trying to figure out. If it's just the American Idol Experience being replaced then in all likelihood it will be another show, or a C-ticket level dark ride (Snow White Level). If it's both American Idol and Sounds Dangerous I would assume it's definitely a ride.

From what we've heard, the entertainment budget at the Studios is being tested, so it would stand to reason that some of the shows would be swapped out for rides in the coming years. In most cases, this is a positive.

Or the Phineas & Ferb rumors coming to light again. And I'm not opposed to something new in both the AI and Sounds Dangerous theaters. I just wouldn't go expecting concrete answers from the OP, that's all.....

Hope they play it smart, combine the AI building with the Sounds Dangerous building, and build a nice ride that could take some pressure off TSM. HS is in desperate need of another family-oriented ride.

redo the great movie ride with all Disney and Pixar movies and AA's and special effects and you got yourself a Toy Story Mania competitor in a big way.

Then put a ride in the American Idol and Sounds Dangerous area...maybe muppets, tangled, or Disney's Junior characters?

do that and add in the Monster's Inc coaster and this park becomes MUCH more popular

If is confirmed by other members, than it opens up to possibilities in what could be in that space and the rumor being true.

I hope a ride does happen if the Idol building and Sounds Dangerous building combines. Toy Story Midway Mania needs another Family style ride for getting the pressure off it and it would be a good first step of changing the reputation of the park being a half day park to a good amount of people that go to DHS. I realize DHS has Great Movie Ride and backlot tour. Those have issues. Backlot tour is dated and is a shell of its former self.

The Great Movie Ride really can't be updated due to trademarks based on what I gathered from other board members.

Great Movies Ride can't be re-done due to trademarks? I didn't know this... how long does this last? ugh

What I meant by trademarks is Disney not having the rights to some some of the movies based on what I read on this board in the past. Great Movie Ride was done in a different era like Who Frame Rodger Rabbit was. Some of the Characters in Who Framed Rodger Rabbit wouldn't been in the movie if it were released today because who owns the rights to the characters.

Back when Great Movie Ride was designed, Disney was the only movie company that had a theme park and some how managed to have other companies to allow their movies to be the attraction at the time.

MGM and Disney hasn't had a business relationship for a while and DHS hasn't been called Disney-MGM Studios in a long time for a reason with Disney changing names to the park multiple times being the current name Disney Hollywood studios. That means Disney is limited in library for what being put into that ride for replacing. Disney also has to deal with Universal from a movie stand point in terms of the amount films they have rights to besides the fact Universal owns theme parks.

No emotional ties to AI at all... Saw it one time, the theater was half full, or half empty depending on your point of view... I enjoyed it for what it was but it wasn't something I felt compelled to see again... Once was kind of enough...

Why would you want to ruin the park's all encompassing ride in such a way?
GMR is a testemant to all movie making. Give it a technical upgrade, no need to change the inside to yet another Disney-centric ride.
