GO FANTASIA!!! YOU DESERVE IT GURL!!! :D :D :D

Hmmm.. I was happy to see Jennifer tonight too! :-D I think also think it would be great for the two "North Carolinians" to perform together! (Fantasia and Clay) :-D

Whoever arranged this final show had one SERIOUS lapse in judgement. They gave away the winner a half hour before the announcement. It was when they had Diana sing the American Idol single. It's been tradition so far that the winner sings the American Idol single at the end, by having Diana sing it earlier in the show, they gave away that Fantasia was the winner. Last year, Ruben and Clay had their own different singles so that wasn't a problem but this year both girls shared the same song so obviously, they can't have Diania sing the same song twice in one night and Fantasia none at all. Stupid planning! :brick:

 I definitely noticed that! Glad I wasn't the only one.

They had another lapse in judgement when they picked the solos for the performance with all 12 of the Idol finalists. They just had to put the only 2 I disliked (Camille and Leah) to massacre a great Gloria Estefan song. That was painful to hear! :brick: :brick: The rest of the performance was good though I loved it.

I quit watching the show when Diana was singing the Idol song because I knew then that she was not the winner. Oh well, I'm still support her when she comes back home.

Even though I don't like Fantasia's style of singing, congrats to her. I'm sure WDW could use her cartoon sounding voice in any upcoming toon (maybe one featuring Daisy Duck).

here are my short little thoughts.
I agree with the thing where they gave away the ending. duh, if Diana sings it now, WHO MIGHT SING IT LATER?! bah.

it took me 15 minutes to watch the show. Istopped to hear the 4 part dealy with ruben, kelly and the two gals. stopped again for kelly's song. and ruben's song. long enough to hear latoya sing, jennifer sing, and george sing. and then saw that diana sang the idol song, then the end.

this show proved to me that the idea of Fantasia being the best contestant is such a load of poo. Kelly clarkson did a great version of her song, ruben is still as loveable as ever, and the were both more gracious, less talk backy, and have amazing talents.

what the heck was freekin' jennifer love hewit doing there? ew.

the camera work was cruddy. I want to see the people singing, but they kept zzoming in on the audience.

at least Fantasia has a cool name. and she can sing better then macy gray.

man, having the three divas would have been a great finale or second to last show. yay for latoya and jennifer.

and on to next season. it has been fun everyone, I will check back in for a new thread for the next round of american idol!

I actually watched the entire show and enjoyed it all.

Sure, it's a WHOLE bunch of fluff building up to the final 5 minutes, but if you are a fan of the show, it is enjoyable.

There were many funny things: Ryan's two comments concerning Simon's false teeth and navel were hysterical, Paula's dress was nuts, and all the singing was really fun to watch. It made me feel good--despite the fact that I had my anatomy and physiology final Thursday morning!

I would ahve liked to have seen another Top 12 number, b/c I love looking at all that. And the Jennifer Hudson and LaToya portions should ahve been extended. But it was great to watch nonetheless.

Sure, I wanted Diana to win, but I felt okay after Fantasia won. She made me smile and does sound good. And at the very least, she appears to be more proactive that Reuben was. He didn't do anything or appear anywhere after the fact. And you still don't hear his songs, or see videos, or see him making appearances. While Kelly and Clay are all over, and even K. Lo and Tamyra and others have more exposure than Reuben.

Im looking forward to the next round in January, and look forward to another fun thread. I enjoyed coming here to chat--thanks for all the thoughts and responses.

Now--anyone watch The Amazing Race on CBS. That is great reality tv! Watch it and post this summer, lol.

OOh, love the Amazing Race. I actually applied to be on the last one with my dad. They've never had a father daughter team! But obviously we were not chosen.

We'll try again if there's still no father daughter team.

Back to the thread. It was a fun show. I wanted Diana to win, but I knew she wouldn't. The judges made their pick very clear. Can't wait until next season!

'Idol's' Fantasia Barrino headed to Disney

LOS ANGELES, May 31 (UPI) -- Fantasia Barrino, "American Idol's" new star, may not be going to Disneyland now that she won, but the 19-year-old wants to take her child to the Disney Store.

"I'm going to take my baby to the Disney Store (and) I'm going to tell her to pick whatever she wants in every color," Barrino told Access Hollywood when asked what she would do when she returned home to High Point, N.C., the newsmagazine reported Monday at its Web site.

Barrino, a single mom to a 2-year-old daughter, plans to squeeze in a trip home while in the midst of a whirlwind media tour that has included "The Tonight Show," "Regis and Kelly," MTV's "TRL" and CBS' "Early Show."

As the winner of Fox TV's "American Idol," Barrino has won a million dollar recording contract and a new car.
