AMC DTD for Pirates

If you tried to get tickets to opening night of Pirates: At Worlds End at AMC DTD PI, and couldn't, they just added more showings. LOTS more. There are now 12 - 8PM showings and 11 - 12:01AM showings. Grab tickets now, because many of these showings have already sold out! I'm going to forget my normal Cast Discount and buy tickets now to make sure I can get in on opening night. 12:01am showings are Thursday night/Friday morning, however you would like to refer to that point in time.

I think i'm stupid... but, does 12:01am on Thursday mean 12:01 that morning, like wednesday night, or 12:01 that night like early Friday morning?

Great, can these be bought online?

Yes, go to amctheaters.com, select PI 24 theaters (either by Orlando zip code or the drop down menu), change the date to Thursday, May 24th, and select the showing you want to purchase. I don't know if there is an online processing fee, but there might be (its usually $1 or $2 per ticket).

I'm surprised by the number of showings now up. I checked yesterday and there was just one 8pm showing available with 3 midnight showings with traditional projection, and an 8pm and midnight digitial showing already sold out. Given what is appearing on the AMC site now, that 8pm show available yesterday sold out and they added A LOT more.

Quick question for all the experts out there...

My group of 9 (including) myself will be attending a 12:01 screening on Thursday night/Friday morning. We are staying at the Boardwalk that week and will not have a car. Will we have to get a taxi to bring us back to BW? How late do the buses run? Are there taxis on standby at DTD or do you have to call in advance?

Thanks!

I'm going to the 8pm one with a bunch of peoples! Too bad I didn't get it in time for the 8pm in DLP though, but at least I got some. :) The theater count for PI though for this one...I tell ya, I've never seen that many showings simultaneusly, that's insanity yet awesome, lol :sohappy: :sohappy:

Muppetdan17: By the time you will have gotten out of the theater, since it's almost 3 hours long, you're gunna be there from 12 til about 3 or 4. The buses will definitely not be running, but yeah, idk if they run that late, you would have to do some research, but I suggest calling in advance to different companies and seeing what their times are and all. Hope that helps!

I have always wondered why they put the DLP projector in a smaller, non stadium seating theater

Because the two DLP projectors that are there now were put in primarily for 3D. Most 3D around the country is put into the medium sized theaters so that they don't have to use up the bigger houses after the opening week. Also, the single projector 3D setup has an issue with brightness beyond a certain screen size.

I assume that they based the placement purely on screen size and seating capacity not stadium vs. sloped.

Grrr... we're too old to stay up that late (for the 12:01am on 5/24), but we got tickets for Saturday night. Now, to try and get ressies for Fulton's before the movie time......
