well, i thought it'd be a great idea to recognize the small (or large) things that people do everyday at WDW to make things a little more magical. it can be on the bus, at the parks, resorts, what ever! a cast member, other guest, friend, etc. These small actions always seem to have such a huge impact on me. I still have vivid memories of helpful, kind, or magical things people did back when i was really little.
i'll start with one example today, and post a few more and i welcome everyone else to do the same! so..here it goes...

We went to WDW in June and while at Epcot we stoped by one of the pastry shops to get some dessert. i got a yummy little scone. my friend and i left the shop while my mom and little brother were paying. the man in front of them had gotten the same scone that i did and my little brother, thinking it was mine, started eating it. Although he looked like a really tough guy, he was really great about it. my brother was SOOO embarrased and ran out of the store. but the guy was so great about it. My mom offered to pay for another one , but he wouldn't let her. As he and his wife were leaving and came over and gave my borther high five to let him know everything was fine. it was a small way that totally made my day and reminded me of how much kindness people are capable of!

We had a cast member wonderful moment on our summer trip last year. (Actually, it was two CMs). My DS had patiently saved his allowance and received his birthday money early to take to WDW. He decided that he wanted to "collect" Mickey Mouses from each of the rides we went on, all in costume. We would get off of a ride and go to the gift shop to find the Mickey. Most of them we had sent back to the resort, but for some reason he decided to keep his POTC Mickey in the bag with him as we toured MK. We rode Astro Orbitor and when we got back off the elevator at the bottom of the ride he realized that he had left his bag. I turned back to the CM who let me go back up to the top and search for the Mickey. Needless to say, "someone" walked off with his bag in the time it took me to ride up and then back down as there are two elevators and I couldn't watch both. :( The CM was waiting at the bottom and asked me if I had any luck and I said no, that it was gone. I told him that I was very sad that my son had to learn at age 8 that people would steal his Mickey. He said that Disney replaces lost or stolen items and gave me a ticket of some sort that told where we bought the Mickey etc. He told me to go back to the POTC gift shop and they would replace the Mickey. I started out through Tomorrowland and happened up on a CM on litter detail. I explained the situation and asked her what the quickest way to POTC was as I had left my family at Space Mountain. She volunteered to take me there and back and even took care of getting the Mickey sorted out when we got to the gift shop. I thanked her profusely as she got me back to Tomorrowland. She just smiled and went back to her trash duties.

HATS OFF TO THE WONDERFUL CAST MEMBERS WHO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP!!!!!

Thanks to all of you who have performed this extra magic, it is very appreciated.:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

We had met several wonderful people who weren't CM. But I will share a few CM stories. There were two very nice CMs who let us into MK before opening and allowed us to eat at CP for breakfast without an ADR!!! We also, had a very nice CM who allowed us to "open MGM" and another CM who let us have our own bench (front and center) for Fantasmic! We were on our honeymoon at the time.

Not trying to toot my own horn, but I have a story that fits in this category. I was working one night in World Showcase and it was an extra magic hour night. It was around 11:30 or so, and I was in Mexico. a woman came up to me saying that she lost 4 children, and they were from the ages of 10 to 4. She said she lost track of them at the restrooms in Germany (by the trains) and the kids mentioned that they wanted to ride Soarin' once more before they went back home (I forget where they were from). So I walked the lady back to Germany and there were her kids! A merch manager had been talking to them, trying to take their minds off of being lost and keeping the kids in the original place where they last saw their mother. So I escorted the mom and her 4 kids and made sure they got to ride Soarin' before the park closed. They made it in time and everybody was happy.

I'm a photopass CM and I was working in the view station at Exposition hall in MK a few nights ago, and was explaining how photopass works to this lovely family from Canada. They had no idea what to do with it, and told me they still had a while for their vacation, so I sat with them for a bit and we figured out what would be the best (cheapest) way to get all their pictures they wanted. They were sooo happy that I took the time to go through all of it with them (because it was near close and anyone who has been in there knows that towards the end of the night it gets packed in there...) even though there was a line. I was very happy to do it and told them so. Then the mother, that sweetheart, makes a gesture to her husband and he beings to rummage through his bag and she starts stalling, while I play along and continue to show her pictures she's already seen. After a moment he pulls out a little card. He hands it to his wife and she gives it to me. At first I think it's a business card but no,

"You've brightened our day"
The ________ Family Vacation 2007
and there is a little picture of Minnie,
but the coolest part is there is a little Canadian flag pin attached to the card.

I am sooo soo suprised, and well...it was the cutest thing ever
so what i do I do?

I say "wait wait" as they turn to leave
and hand them a set of Tink pins (for the year of a million dreams)
there is one for you, and one to share
and told them that because they're experts they'll know exactly how to do it.

Needlesstosay,
we both walked away soo happy and it was one of the sweetest things that has happend to me while working.

Something so small can make suchhh a big impact,
even on us CMs.

I have a few, last week a lady named Judy replced a pin we had just lost for free at the pin trading station at Frontierland. We had just bought it when somehow it dissapeared, but Judy recognized us and went out of her way to convince the manager that we were legit.

Last year a cast member promised us that the Sheriff of Nottingham would appear at the Teardrop area on the last day of our trip. We had been asking about him every day for the last three vacations, so we were excited that we were going to meet him. We arrived that day and waited there for hours for my son who wanted to meet him. Actualy I waited while the rest of the family played at Donald's Boat. After counting the afternoon for loss, I went into the Toon Town Fair. I was just looking to see what characters were there, I saw a manager who I started talking to during our conversation I explained the story to him, I was not expecting anything I was just relaying our story in passing. He told me to wait and left, 20 minutes later returned and told us to meet him in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later he took us to a room where the good Sheriff was waiting. My son was pumped. Needless to say that manager went above and beyond. We were so thankful I wrote a letter to the parks about the great deed. We were called back by a Disney rep who commended us for writting and told us the manager would be commended.

And this year an employee who remembered us from years past, set up something really special for my son.

On our honeymoon a cast member let my DH and I ride in the front car twice in row without getting at BTMR. She loved my Mickey Mouse wedding ring. I will try to get a picture of it for my avatar, just haven't had time.

aw! i love everyone's stories! these things don't jsut brighten your day, but can also brighten your life and change your outlook. so...i've got another one! lol

i guess when i was about 11 or 12 were riding the bus home from a really tiring day at the park. I was sooo happy to get a seat, since they can be pretty hard to get, especially when you tired. a woman sat down next to me and a man walked on the bus holding a sleeping baby. While my only thought was, "awww...what a cute baby", it was obvious that the woman next to me was thinking much deeper. she stood up and gave her seat to the man, knowing it would be difficult for him to stand while holding his baby. we hit a few rough bumbs on the way home too, and the poor child would have definately woken up if the man had been standing and fumbling. I'll never, ever be able to forget that moment. it was one of thoes small things that really changed the way i looked at people! I'm sure that woman had never planned on impacting a little girl's life, but she did and i'm so greatful for it!

This was a small gesture but touched me anyway...
We were in Pecos Bill's (spelling???) and I had sat down with the two children while waiting for my husband to get the food. A young female CM was cleaning around us and stopped to comment on my children. Then she starting talking to my son and asked him questions about his day at the MK. Now my son was only 3 years old at the time but he could still talk until you're blue in the face. She listened to everything he had to say and he was kept quite entertained by her. Then she asked if he would like a cookie (of course he said yes) and she gave him a free cookie. I thought it was so sweet! And when my husband returned with the food she wished us a great evening and then she went right back to cleaning up.
I don't think she realized how much she done for me that day - entertaining my son, having the patience to listen to him talk, and the free cookie. She deserves all the praises I can give her - I only wish I had gotten her name!

last week we were waiting on line for the carousel when the Cm asked my dw for our dd name (she is 2). After my dw gave him her name he handed dw a magical moment certificate and made a speech proclaiming my dd as a honorary princess for the day. He also gave her s sticker. It absolutely made her day. The rest of the afternoon she told everyone that would listen that she was an honorary princess, including the Princess them self when we had dinner in Norway for the Princess storybook. She was so proud

In April of 2004, my wife was 5 months pregnant. We were waiting for the bus after Wishes. My wife started to have some painful contractions. The head of Transportation came over, arranged for ambulance and got one of his people to drive us to the hospital. He also called Pop Century where we were staying and arranged for some at the hotel to pick us up afterward, which was 2:30 in the morning. He made a stressful time some much easier to cope with.,

I was amazed on this past trip how many people were handing out their fastpass's. Someone offered us one but we already had them. I must have seen that 10 or so times.

I have two, both from the first day of our honeymoon on September 3rd

We had slept in to recover from the wedding, had lunch at DTD and then got to MGM at about 7:45. Since we got there so late we were going to have to wait to see the late show of fantasmic which unfortunatly ment we had to miss Indiana Jones (which my husband was really looking forward too). Well, Just after we walked through the gate a couple leaving approached us and gave us their guaranteed seating pass for the 8:30 show from their fantasmic dinner package saying they couldn't stay long enough to see the show. We went straight into the theater and loved the show. The best part was once the show was over we had time to catch the last show of the night of Indiana Jones (which was also great).

Later at the very end of the EMH's that night we went over the see what the line was like at RNR. We were both really tired and DH isn't much of a roller coaster fan. Even with only a half hour wait he probably would have psyced himself out and taken the chicken exit. As we were standing there in front of the big guitar debating on if we wanted to wait in line (we knew it would be our only chance of the trip becuase it was going down for refirb) a family approched us and offered to give us their fast passes in exchange for taking their picture in front of the guiter (although we would have done it for without getting anything in return). We got right on the ride and he absolutly loved it. So much even that we bought the on ride photos afterwards.

If either the couple or the family are members of this board, you guys absolutly made our night with your generosity. Thank You!

It was on our 2004 trip that this happened. We'd dropped our film off for processing at Exposition Hall in MK about mid-afternoon. We'd picked the processing envelopes up at the WL that morning, dropped the finished films in them and handed them into Exposition Hall without thinking, having indicated they were to be sent back to MK for pick up a couple hours later. We stopped in at Exposition Hall on our way out of MK around 5pm on our way back to WL for dinner, with the intention of coming back to MK later that night (btw, this was our last night at the World, we were checking out the next morning and on a 1pm flight out of Orlando). When we stopped in at Exposition Hall they couldn't find our photos anywhere. The CM we were dealing with even called over to EPCOT where the processing centre was located and they weren't there as they'd been sent back to the WL for pick up the next morning. We explained that we were checking out the next morning and wouldn't be there to pick them up but that we were coming back to the MK later that night after dinner. The CM said she would do what she could to get our pictures sent back to MK for us. When we returned later that night, we found the same CM at Exposition Hall and she had managed to track down our pictures and had them there waiting for us. Needless to say she made the last day of our trip that much better as we were able to take our memories with us. After leaving Exposition Hall, I made my way back inside a few minutes later and presented the CM with a What Would Walt Do Pin in appreciation for all the trouble she went through to save our vacation photos for us.

aaaw! i'm still loving all these posts. anyway...here's another bus story...

about 5 years ago we were getting on the bus and the line was HUGE. seats were filling fast, but my family and i were pretty far back in the line. From the line outside the bus we saw a very noble looking man walk to the back of the bus while there were still plenty of available seats. He realized the line and the needs of others, and set the stanadard for every other man entering that bus! we watched as more people filed in and seeing the man's example, many other men stood, allowing most of the seats for women and kids. it was so sweet. It was ana amzing thing to witness and it still means so much to me! it just makes me love wdw even more!

My best CM moment is from my first trip.

I had gotten a denim hat with "The Gang" on it and it was practically attached to my head the second we bought it. Well, on TGMR we were in the back and I tilted my head to keep popping bubbles and it slipped right off my head. I was so distraught. I just wanted my hat back. My parents promised they would by me an other one JUST LIKE IT, but I wanted that one. Then the CM doing unload asked what was wrong and my parents told him because I was still sobbing and he somehow told a driver coming up on it that I lost my hat and asked if he would stop and get it. In just a few minutes I had my hat back. I still have that hat too. :sohappy:
