Am I the only one that has grown to like Spaceship Earth 4 equally?

The first time I rode Spaceship Earth 4 I rushed the whole ride away to see what the ending would be like. It turned out to be a big disappointment. Like an old car you have an attachment sometimes some things have to go. As time has moved on I decided to ride Spaceship Earth and enjoy what was left. As I learned to love the features that were already there I started to realize there is absolutely no realistic futureistic vishion left to show on Spaceship Earth. The narrator closes the story as you enter the klydescope getting your last look at the stars which I think turned out verry well. The ending is just to keep us ocupated for those last 5 minutes of stars and triangles. I also like the new post show, it has that origional Epcot feel.

Seriously, there are some great things about the current version of Spaceship Earth, but what's so disappointing is how great the ride builds up to right before the decent. Then it just goes to crap from there. Sure, the first time you watch the little video showing you in space or whatever is cute, but it's just such an anticlimactic ending to the ride.

At first the ending is anticlimactic but kinda cool and fun but after riding it many times, it gets anticlimactic, old and boring. But you're entitled to your opinion :)

I agree with others that the ending could be better, but I still enjoy the ride very much. I feel that a lot of people think that rides are going downhill (such as SSE) because they aren't what they grew to love. But everything has to evolve, and we have to accept that. I loved SSE before and after, and unless they completely gut the ride, I think I always will love it.

At the risk of serious bodily harm, I like the current ending better than any of the others. I never saw the original but I did see the Walter Cronkite version, Jeremy Irons and the current. I always thought that the ending, with the exception of "Tomorrows Child" music, was tedious, boring and didn't really make a lot of sense. I prefer the little cartoon with my face as I fall backwards off the cliff that is SSE. It kinda makes me feel like I'm a part of the attraction. Ego is everything. :)

I've tried to keep an open mind and appreciate this version of SSE. Though the Jeremy Irons version was & always will be my favorite, this newer version isn't a horrible ride by any means. But that painfully awful narration! Every time I get to the part where Judi says: "Remember how easy it was to learn your ABC's?...", I start to foam at the mouth.

I like a lot of the changes to the newest version, especially the new animatronics and the blue starfield lights at the beginning of the descent, but for me the new musical score just isn't as compelling as the Irons version score and I miss the overall sense of mystery the Irons version had.

Spaceship Earth is still my favorite attraction in EPCOT, but there are things I really miss about the previous version.

I actually really do like the current version of SSE, too. I see why some people hate it, but when you think back to the Time Racers days, I'd rather have this. I think the narration emulates a style you see now in a lot of History/Discovery Channel documentaries where they relate the subject to something from the present in a wacky-sounding kinda way. "Blah blah blahblah blah; so in a way, Genghis Khan was like a rock star of his time." Stuff that sounds weird, but is also true in a way(my example may be very poor, mind you). That's what I'm reminded of whenever the line about paper bringing about better record keeping and "unfortunately, taxes." In a way it sounds just like how everyone griped about taxes, but the ability to count your people and tax them is a huge step towards modern government. Honestly, my biggest knock against it that I heard on these boards that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be the new narrator for a while... which brings me to my suggestion: use the touchscreens to let people pick their narrator! The "connecting you to your guide" line at the beginning from "Spaceship Earth Control" for some reason always sounded to me like that was thought of at one point. You'd never hear people griping about the narrator, because everyone would like at least one.

As different as Spaceship Earth is now At least it wasn't a downscale. They put just as much money and work into the screens and the software and hardware that operates it as much as any other ending. I guess there is no more vishion to show unless you just want the scenery and trust me I would love to have it back to. But I do think theyre are many great elements to he ride and it's all good up until the end of the space scene. Now will somebody please tell me what the story is about Patrick Stewart narating Spaceship Earth?

Cronkites descent will always be the best IMHO.
Most of the current ascent - audio not included - is the best yet. IMHO.

It is so much worse. The part where you turn and see the Earth is pretty much ruined. I miss the ghost chariot and always hear Jeremy Irons saying, "East, west, north and south..." :(

I do like the end better than before and I like the new scenes much more that the older ones. I'm thrilled they turned the paper boy around because I got stuck next to him for a long time once and I don't like him now. :)

I dont like the narration. Sometimes I listen in another language. It is far less annoying when I don't know what they're saying. :)

I never notice anything other then the earth itself...that part keeps me captivated. At the risk of showing my total ignorance...what's a gobo?

I don't hate this version, but the things I like most about it always were a part of Spaceship Earth.

I miss the Cronkite and/or Irons narration. I liked both of those much better than the current version.
I miss the ghost chariot.
I miss the girl talking to her friend over Skype (which is now a huge part of human communication)

If they could take the current ascent, add back the chariot and Irons narration, fix the 180top lighting issues, and restore the Cronkite descent, then it would be perfect! :D

It's something used in theatrical lighting:

A gobo (or GOBO) derived from "Go Between", "GO BlackOut" or "Goes Before Optics", originally used on film sets, is a physical template slotted inside, or placed in front of, a lighting source, used to control the shape of emitted light.

It makes things like star patterns with light - or often the pattern of light coming through a window
