I am taking the family on our first trip to WDW on May 21, 2003. I went when I was 9 y/o but now am able to take my hubby & 3 kids (ages 11, 4, and 2). I have bought every WDW book out there and have read them over and over again. Every time I go to the mall, I can't pass up stopping in at the Disney Store. I have even gone so far as to buy a Mickey telephone that rings Disney Themes. Am I going overboard?? My husband thinks I am going to ruin the excitement. I just can't wait. We are staying at the All Star Movie Resort. Any tips, rumors, stories, etc. about goings on at WDW would be appreciated!!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip! My first bit of advice for you is to get the hours/parade times from the Disney.com website. I would also suggest that you get some of your dining set up. You do not want to get to the parks and have to wait for a meal while you can be enjoying the parks. Another tip that I will give you is to take the park early entry schedule and stay away from whatever park opens early that day. Take lots of film and extra batteries for the camera with you. It's very expensive to purchase them there. Also buy the resort mugs, this will save money since you get free refills. And make sure that you get the wake up calls every morning for the kids. :animwink: I also read all of the guide books. Birnbaum's is my favorite. In my opinion - you can never get enough Disney!! I turned my hubby into an addict on his first trip and now he doesn't even consider it a vacation if it doesn't involve Disney in some way/shape or form... 
It definitely makes sense to plan in advance.. As mentioned before - make your PS reservations in advance so you don't have to wait in line to eat... wdwig.com is a great site full of information, including menus and feedback from other wdw visitors...
even if you don't have all the information you will be fine.. there are plenty of people who do disney without a lot of research and they still have a great time... just remember to go and have fun... that's the most important part!!

Planing and dreaming is part of the fun. (looking at pictures and memories is also part of the fun.) I am a little concerned, if you are this nuts and you haven't even been in 20 years, think of how nuts you will be after you get home and are truelly bitten by the Disney World bug!! Oh well, at least you will have lot's of suport and friends here on line. When you feel like you have gone overboard, just look around here. I promise you will find at least a few people who make you look very mild! (always makes me feel good, I am not so bad, they are much worse!!!)

Thanks so much for all of your advice. Anyone have any info on the All Star Movie Resort?? I have never stayed there before. When I went to Disney when I was little we stayed at Fort Wilderness, which was great. The kids are very excited to go and we keep looking up pics on line to get them excited!
First off I would like to welcome you to these forums.
And i must say, you will fit in around here well if you do all that before a trip, dont worry its normal (or so I think). (P.S.-It wont ruin a thing)
I have stayed at the All Star Movies a few times. It is the nicest of the 3 All Star's in my opinion. I woul sugest asking for the Dalmation Building. It is located between the two pools, and the main lobby. It is also near the laundry facility and has a really nice theme. YOu can try to ask for a building at check-in due to avaibility and you can call CRO and have them add a building request to the reservation. If you havnt checked it out, Disney Pix is a great site for WDW photos.

We stayed at Movies this past March and I agree with Blizz that it's the best of the All Stars. The Dalmations area is really cute. There have a giant TV you can pose inside of for pictures (great souvenir), puppy prints in the cement, all kids of little touches. If you really want to get your kids excited you can rent some of the movies ahead of time assuming you don't have them already- Dalmations, Love Bug, Toy Story, etc.

welcome to WDWMagic! I have a bookshelf full of Disney books and guides, and magazines, newspaper articles, among other collectibles (snowglobes, pins, plush animals)... I'm a Disney addict too! I don't feel that you can "over do it" with Disney! I have to go once a year at least. My husband is not an addict like I am... so I'm glad that my daughter still appreciates coming to WDW with me each summer! Woo-hoo!
